South Dakota forums

We have established a new tradition for this season. We end every game by kneeling it down on their one yard line in Victory formation.
Lol, love it. Mr. Miyagi "nose honk" when we could have smashed their face in. Over the season teams fear us knowing we could bury them and embarrass them, but instead playfully let up each time....even more defeating feeling for them

1:31 left and K-State had one timeout. If Lanning just takes 3 seconds per kneel, at WORST you have to snap the ball with a second or two left and you launch that sucker to a WR out of bounds down the field.

Funny story, as I was on the sideline for that game as a student manager. With my role, I had a headset on with the defensive coaches in my ears. After the 4th down stop, everyone is celebrating until they see the offense set up in a formation. Wally and Shane Burnham start screaming “WHAT ARE WE DOING?” and were trying to get Rhoads’ attention to call timeout before the ball had been snapped. The rest is history. Not a fun trip home
This is a microcosm if the Rhoads era. We loved when he was a gambler. But every gambler has a big bust at some point.

Pretty sure it was done because KSU couldn't stop the clock and wouldn't get the ball back.

Add in that ISU's back end was leaky and it's not the best decision to make it a two possession game vs ending it.
Correct. The best way not to become Mario Cristobal is to not do Mario Cristobal things, like trying to punch it in when all you have to do is kneel three times.

No kidding. We've taken a knee on the opponent's 1 yard line to end the last two games. We've scored a total of 79 points in two games, but it could easily be 93.
If you need to punch it in when you could kneel to end the game to get 93, you aren't really scoring 93. You are being trying to pad the stats. We had the rest of the game to get there.

We didn’t “need to get to 93” though lol we could’ve scored more but we didn’t. I think that’s the point. Points scored in a game still count and there is not some arbitrary cut off limit during the game where points stop counting.

This is funny. There was only one time the press box forgot to turn off the music.
The examples off "holding" are just as funny. Officials simply don't throw a flag when a blocker is in good position and is either manhandling the defender or grabbing a jersey between the shoulder pads. Flags are thrown when a defender has a chance to make a play and is grabbed by a blocker who is out of position. It's not that difficult to understand how officials manage a game without calling excessive holding penalties out of the hundreds of blocks that they observe during a game.

They're a salty little bunch aren't they. I get it though. It's gotta suck knowing even if they win their national championship no one will care. This was their one shot at doing something nationally relevant and they got destroyed. I'd probably be filled with butthurt too.

I’m honestly impressed they have fans

I assume they’re fans of real program too. If not, you can’t fault them for coping with blissful ignorance

Bouman had some dimes in that first half. Our DBs had pretty good coverage and he was dropping it in their pocket.

He fell off after the pick, which was a bad throw, but he impressed me with his accuracy and composure in the first half.
Yes, there were many hat tip moments when I just said, that was a hell of a pass. The dropped ball later in the game on the sideline was also a beautiful pass. We did rattle him, but if he has the same talent on offense as the defense in front of him does, look out. I could see him making an NFL roster or practice team.
