I mean, sure...Midlands is a bit deeper than SS, but it's a shadow of what it once was. If anything they are trending closer to equal.
Disagree, midlands is only D1 teams and teams like Stanford, Rutgers, Penn, and Indiana sending full squads. Plenty of other quality D1 teams there and back ups. If Cyclones had sent their guys there it wouldn’t even be close. Midlands still way better but also seeing some different competition for the younger guys

I think both things can be true. Yes, Midlands is still better than SS at this point. Yes, it is also a shadow of what it once was. All the top teams as well as post-grads used to attend. It was second only to Nationals as far as competition. Now CKLV as well as probably others have surpassed it. SS is better than the Iowa intrasquad it was a few years ago, so trending closer would seem to be accurate even if they are still far apart. (The Ferrari-Arnold and Ferrari-Glazier debacles don't help though)

And Iowa shows 40.

Most of it isn’t actual numbers. Just defaults.

Why do you want to see that? Glazier has been awful this year. Majored by a guy from Pitt and smoked by Wyatt Voelker and another no name from Northwestern.

Seems like a 6th year guy who just isn’t super invested anymore. Happens a lot.
ended up being 16 not 18 at the time. PJ was going, that would have been 17.

Not exactly sure.
his dad is a complete idiot, we wrestled on some national duals with "baby max" and his dad about drove us Frickin nuts
I remember the days of the predicament. He would talk about managing his wrestling career in 3rd grade. He managed it so much he redshirted him in 2 or 3 grade.

I am not surprised by this at all.

Any idea why PJ didn’t make the trip? Still cutting I assume.

Would have been good for him to get matches and to see Parco.
no idea. If I were to guess, I would ASSume it is him still trying to get down to 149. West Virginia is going to be interesting to see what line up we put out there

Kueter needs to go to 197.

He hasn’t been that light in years. He weighs nearly 240 with barely an ounce of fat on him. Where the heck are the 40 lbs going to come from?

He needs to keep getting bigger. And he will. He’s a freshman who’s put on nearly 20 lbs already. The question is where the offense is going to come from.

This comment certainly gives some insight into your comments about Carroll. No regard for the challenges of cutting a ton of weight and what it does to athletic performance.

The SS had more quality, with more highly ranked wrestlers, returning AAs, and some true freshman studs like Merrill, Sinclair, Ferrari, and the Mizzou 125. The Midlands had more depth in terms of D1 starters in each bracket but was short on high end talent.

I guess one could make a case either way for this year, but the tournaments are clearly trending in opposite directions. I’ve heard the SS organizers got positive feedback from some schools to step up their entries next year, in particular Okie State, Mizzou, and Minnesota (who unfortunately held several out due to illness this year). If this holds, the SS will be stronger than Midlands going forward.

It was a joke because Kueter has looked pretty meh at HWT given his accolades. He’s struggling to finish shots and only beat Minnesota’s backup 1-0. Life as a tweener is hard.

I won’t claim he’s blowing the doors off (see my comment about needing more offense) but he’s 10-2 as a collegian and 4 of the 10 wins are against NCAA qualifiers. That includes Tabor who’s only a backup because Gable came back. That doesn’t exactly suck for a RS frosh.

It’s crazy at this point to try to make a conclusion on Kueter one way or the other. He just hasn’t had many matches or opportunity. He’s beaten every single person he should beat and lost to everyone you would expect him to. His 2 career losses are to Yonger and Kerkvliet.

Truth is we have no idea how he’s going to do against guys in the 6-12 range. I don’t think he’s a top 5 heavy, but that is honestly extremely stacked right now. Where he sits outside of those top guys, no one knows.
