I am trying to find Serbian plum brandy aka slivovitz for the holidays. I'm in south east Iowa and our local Hy Vee liquor store doesn't have it and when I inquired about it they said they'd look into special ordering it but it would take 6-8 weeks to get in so I told them I'd try to find it else where. Just wondering if any of you fanatics know of a liquor store is des Moines area that would have it as I'll be in the area Friday. I was thinking there was a decent number Serbian/Bosnian/Kosovo immigrants in Des Moines area and odds would be a little better to find it. If nothing else let me know some big liquor store names with great selection in des Moines area. Thanks

Maybe not much help and it's not Des Moines, but there's a Bosnian woman at my work who has mentioned a Bosnian grocery store in Waterloo, not even sure they'd carry it, but looks like it's called Ajla's bakery and grocery:

Talked to the Bosnian gal. The place in W'loo is Muslim, so they don't carry liquor, but she said "Europa" in Des Moines would have it:

Yes, these twitter accounts are about 80% about beer. Great way to see new releases. For example, Fluer just got a bunch of fresh Psuedo Sue in.

Wow thanks guys appreciate all the feedback, cyclone fanatic rarely disappoints but didn't think I'd get this much feedback on a subject like this. And yes I know its basically jet fuel but my moms side of the family is Serbian and its just nice to still celebrate some heritage during the holidays via alcohol.
