Site that did HB's diary predicting Duke

How is Barnes very close friends with Kyrie Irving? Serious question. They must have only met on a recruiting trip.

Maybe HB will go Pollard on Duke when he finds out that someone leaked and choose the good guys.:jimlad:

You know what, HB has been able to live every college fan's dream. All expenses paid trips to the holy grails of college basketball. UNC, Duke, KU, UCLA, and was treated like royalty. Met John Wooden and Michael Jordan. Attended Duke vs. UNC. These are bucket list items for hundreds of thousands of people and he got to do it all because he kept his mouth shut and didn't reveal where he was going.

OU is a bit confusing, but he did grow up in the Big 12, and may have just wanted to go to an OU football game and experiance that. The holy grail of football in the Big 12.

Now that he has gotten to see the best the college sports world has to offer, for free essentially, he can sit back, relax, and sign with the hometeam. Not only has all of this time waiting and trip taking raised his profile, the school that gets him will see their name in the spotlight tomorrow, and next year as well. If you knew you were going to a school that needed to be put on the map, can you think of a better way to do it? He chooses ISU 2 years ago and nobody cares. He chooses ISU tomorrow, the whole sports nation will pay attention, and suddenly our status jumps WAY up...

This is just a friend's wishful thinking. He is throwing a party in hope that his friend will pick Duke.

If my friend was picking his school I know I'd want to support him whether he was going to be with me or not. This probably is all it is, and that is commendable.

I've been thinking the same thing. All along I've been asking...what motivation would a teenager from Ames have to string ISU along all this time? I honestly can't think of one reason. Not one.

Not signing with ISU is one thing. Practicing at our facilities, spending time with our team, developing a relationship with our coach and then letting your entire hometown community keep their hopes up for nothing is downright cruel. I still think having the press conference open to the public so he could pick another team would be one of the most ice-cold things I've ever seen a high school athlete do.

On the other hand, like above poster says, there's a lot of motivation for a teenage basketball player to check out the other schools. HB met the greatest college coach of all time and the best basketball player of all time on the recruiting trail. Do you know how many people would die to meet MJ? I'm not a Duke or NC fan, but I'd give anything to sit behind the bench at this game.

As with everything else on this board, this is all speculation and I should stop psycho-analyzing a teenager, but this all seems logical to me.

Kinda interesting too that Barnes hasn't posted his diary for his ISU trip yet...In his UCLA diary he states that he will tell everyone about his ISU trip next week....so my guess he might be lumping his diary in w/ his commitment to ISU....What do you all think?

If he doesn't choose ISU I wouldn't accuse him of stringing them along. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he hadn't yet made a decision and was still considering ISU. In which case there wasn't anything wrong with his actions.

and who could blame him for wanting to use the best facilities and play against the best compitition available to him in ames. Who would turn that down?

And, as has been said many times, the ISU basketball team has gotten the opportunity to practice with an NBA talent...

Guys - Carolina fan here. I'm like a lot of you and basically trying to find all that I can about Harrison Barnes' decision tomorrow, but have enjoyed all of your posts. The only conclusion that I have come up with is that (1) I appreciate your dislike of Dook, (2) Iowa State is now my favorite team out of the Big 12 and (3) if Harrison does not choose Carolina, I hope he chooses you guys. I can take solace in your Dook bashing and hope Mr. Barnes is not influenced by those Dookies.

Harrison did walk out of Doug McD's signing talking with the ISU staff coming out very seriously

Really? Because I was there and Harrison hung out until the end of the lunch period. He and the ISU staff chatted a few different times. I saw none of the ISU staff “seriousâ€￾ at all. In fact a couple of the coaches spouses were “bickeringâ€￾ back and forth about rooms of junk the coaches haul from job to job and never get out of boxes.

Greg was very upbeat as someone whose son just signed a national LOI would be.

Now based on a conversation I had this evening I think ISU chances are significantly less than I thought yesterday. I remain cautiously optimistic but this person thinks ISU is eliminated base on HB mentioning being down to four earlier in the week and ISU was not one of the four.

Unless this person is HB or his mom, they don't know jack-just like the rest of us.
