The Loyola University Chicago community mourns the passing of Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, BVM, who died on October 9 at the age of 106.

RIP she was a wonderful ambassador for Loyola Chicago and seemed like a wonderful woman

It's pretty remarkable to be as active as she was for as long as she was around.

When you think of what happened in the past 106 years, that woman saw a lot of history, good and bad. I urge people with older parents and relatives to secure as many memories from them as they can while they are alive. You will never regret that time and can't get it back.

I work at LCS in downtown Des Moines and she lived at one of our senior living communities in Chicago, The Clare. We did a couple of intercompany resident features on her, a great life story, both her connection to the Loyola basketball team and other work she has done.
