Sims gets deferred judgment

Seriously, this is ridiculous. His final charge might not seem serious, but to act like what he did was no big deal is an insult. He knowingly took another person's credit card and USED it to buy stuff. Are you kidding me? Bernie Madoff didn't really do anything either. He merely borrowed a few bucks from a few people, and it got all blown out of proportion. Is it safe to say you didn't think Jason Berryman didn't do a real bad thing only because the kid he beat the snot out of only had a cell phone and four bucks on him? I'm sure Jason would have only taken four had the victim had a couple hundred on him.

I want to win as much as the next guy. I'm happy that our best player will be playing at ISU in some form this year. Any game he plays in before the KSU game is an insult to every law-abiding player, student, and fan of the program. Come one, no big deal my butt.

I've posted my opinion on Berryman before. I'm dead sure he was looking for more than $3, and he assaulted somebody. He got the deal he deserved.

Sims paid the money back, and the courts don't seem to think he's a threat to keep doing this stuff. There really isn't much more to see at that point.

Anyone ever think that maybe he was initially given permission to use the card, hence why he signed his own name? Why else would you sign your own name. Something in still fishy. Thats why he plead not guilty, and intended to fight it in court. It gets the state to realize it would be alot less effort and cost for everyone to plead down, especially if you can stay clean. The state of Ia will throw the book at any warm pulse they have because the investigations are so pathetic. Then plead down once you resist and decide to go to court. Yes, I do have experience. LOL

If you want to talk about insults, comparing Sims to Madoff, who stole people's life savings, is definitely an insult.

I'll admit, the signing his own name is a bit goofy.

But permission from whom? Clearly not from the owner. I would hope he's bright enough to not follow through on a "my mom will be ok with it" from the son.

Sorry, if your scenario would have occurred, I not only think Sims would "intend" to fight it in court, but actually would have followed through. He wouldn't just melt.
Bottom line, he used a card that wasn't his, and intentionally spent someone else's money. Don't paint him as some victim - that's taking jock-worship a bit too far.

OK, what part of any of this whole scenario is direct proof he did not have some sort of permission? He signed his own name. I'm sorry, maybe I am giving him too much credit but why would he do that? Maybe he figured that he was getting off easy here with punishment very easy for him to complete given his background. A trial would just run him through more unneeded mud. This whole thing goes away if he completes his probation period successfully. I'm not saying he is innocent. He's not. I just don't think, with the facts that we have that we can completely dismiss anything that has to do with this case. It is fishy and things just don't flow right.

I have to admit I'd like to know more about what happened between the woman's son and Sims. Maybe he did give it to him to use. I believe there's some sort of relationship there, as I certainly don't buy that Sims "found the credit card on the sidewalk," as he claims.
