After reading the Cyclonefanatic article (thanks for the article btw http://cyclonefanatic.com/2017/01/wrestling-iowa-state-goes-0-2-vs-oklahoma-schools/ ) it states...

"For Simmons, he missed this weekend due to a weight issue. Jackson is unsure if Simmons will compete during the rest of the season."
There is also the IAwrestle article ( https://iawrestle.com/2017/01/30/markus-simmons-changing-weights-kyle-larson-to-start-125-for-isu/ ) which states:

"As the season continued, the cut wore on Simmons and after discussion with the coaches both sides agreed that the wrestler needed to take a break from 125 pounds with plans to reevaluate at the end of the season."

Wouldn't Simmons would have a better chance to qualify for NCAA's at 141 than Meeks?

Before everyone blasts me I realize that Simmons stock is probably down because he recently placed 4th at the Loras tourney and Meeks stock is up because he looked his best so far vs. Heil.

However doesn't the win % play a major factor in getting a NCAA bid? According to WrestleStat Simmons is/was 18-8 vs Meeks at 6-10. Also, does the # of matches 16 vs 26 matter? KJ doesn't come out and say Simmons is done competing...just at 125. Does anyone have any info on how they do against each other in the room?

Inquiring minds want to know and speculate ;-)

Both of them would have to steal a spot. Neither will get an allocation or be competitive for an at large bid at 141.

Vega at 125
Parker & Simmons at 133
Storr at 141

Would be a solid young lineup

Simmons and Boston would have been battling for 133 if Earl didn't get his 4th year, I would think

Didn't Boston do the same thing last year? Don't think it'll work out for him at 141.

Yes, he wrestled many of the duals at 141 in the second half of the second. Won a few, but did not have great success. Then he bombed at the Big 12s. On the other hand, Meeks, wrestling up at 149 won a couple of matches at the conference tournament, but did not do well enough to go to nationals.

Stay with John. He has done everything the staff has asked of him for 5 years. Marcus will have his chance next year at 133/141.

Unlike several of his teammates in the lower weights, Meeks has always shown up to wrestle. I don't think he's ever missed weight ; he's managed to stay relatively injury free; and he's wrestled where the team asked him to.
