Shawn Raney

Thanks for sharing this BamaBob. I am happy Shawn landed on his feet and is able to establish the connections he was after. I wish things could have ended better for him at ISU, but it happens everywhere. I also think Spain Park and Hoover should play every year. If I remember right, Bama's son plays for Hoover.

Yes, he does play for Hoover and is part of that sophomore class Shawn refers to. He's not a D1 prospect but there are probably 10-12 that will be. Ryan (my son) really liked Shawn as did all of the players he coached. I've heard nothing but good things about him from the locker room, in the community, etc. Sorry to lose him but happy for him at the same time.

Hoover and SP did play every year until last year when the state realigned the regions. Hoover decided to play another local rival as one of their 3 non-region games. It is interesting to note that SP has never beaten Hoover at any level of football - so as we say in Hoover, it's not a rivalry because a hammer and a nail aren't rivals.
