Yeah, no idea what happened, don't really care because it is totally meaningless. Of course hearing about any tidbits would be nice but that's on premium board and that's fine.

It's going to be an exciting season, if nothing more than most of the players and coaching staff is new. Hopefully they will improve as season goes, and maybe surprise us a time or two.
There isn't much to be told unfortunately. With these scrimmages being such weird formats, it is hard for the guys who cover the program to get an accurate gauge on what's worth reporting on I think. People have asked for box scores, but those wouldn't be much use since the formats aren't your typical two 20-minute halves etc.

It’s just weird we are in November and know so little about the basketball team. Do you have to be on premium board to know anything about projected starters? Heck I may have to try out the new Cyclones.com to even know who is on the team. There’s some guy who was here before and left to follow TJ around. There’s some guy who transferred from Minnesota. That is all I remember. Was thinking this would be a good weekend to do a Hilton Madness maybe but have heard nothing about that. I guess the best I can hope for is that somehow we are decent and are in stealth mode. We aren’t setting low expectations, we are setting no expectations.
I think there is a bit of a defensive front being put up in regards to the media and the basketball program. It's year one of a new coach, and not just any coach, but a loyal son. By keeping the expectations low and giving rational perspective, CW and others covering the program can help ensure that TJ has enough time to get this turned around before the fans get fed up and try to chase him out of town.

This is probably the best post I've seen in a while that sums up the men's basketball coaching position at ISU since the inception of Cyclonefanatic. It has become a cult of personality. What you just said also applied to GMAC, because the founders hated them some Wayne Morgan. Question will be.........how many years of protection does he get if he struggles? Eventually, regardless of Prohm, he will need to produce better than GMAC or the "loyal son" aspect will wear thin on everyone who isn't his friend.

Personally, I hope he knocks it out of the park this year. The talent is there even if the numbers are a little thin.

I hope he does too. One thing that is (should be) clear is that there is instantly an upgrade at one position, and a very important one at that: PG. Hunter will have a lot of pressure for a FR, but he should be an automatic upgrade over everyone that made an attempt to man the position a year ago. Hopefully it is enough along with the other pieces and healthier culture to net us a few more wins than 7. I am hoping for 10.

I don't think anyone from the coaches on down should feel any pressure whatsoever this year. Especially with Foster and Hinson pulling anchor. This has become the perfect "us against them" scenario that so many athlete's seem to thrive under. The talent is there....and with the Big 10 transfers so is some needed experience. There is more talent now than GMAC's first year.....or even Fred's. So I'm of the thinking 15-17 wins. Was thinking bubble before the two departures so I'll simmer on that a bit.

***Projected Starters***
G) Tyrese Hunter
G) Izaiah Brockington
G) Gabe Kalscher
F) Aljaz Kunc
C) Robert Jones or George Conditt

Where did you get this? From what I've been hearing about Enaruna, I thought he was a sure starter and Kunc has been injured and limited in practice. They were talking up Enaruna's ball handling and overall game, saying he could even bring the ball up the court in certain situations.

Heard directly from Coach Otz this summer, starters are and planned to be, I assume not much has changed since then:

Hunter
Brockington
Kalscher
Jaz
Conditt

Grill, Jackson, Walker and Jones will be bench/role guys. Enaruna is a project.

If Enaruna is considered a project with this roster.........we are in good shape.

Overall, there seems to be very little about ISU or Iowa hoops in the print media. Even Cyclones.com has nothing marketing this year's team.

Coming off a 20 loss season, it would be tough for ISU to promote a winning team, but they could do stories in some of our new players! After all, our roster is mainly new guys.

Still a dead tree falling in the woods. Silence on Kunc. I've asked a couple of times on his injury. Nothing.

Agree. A little more than (next to) nothing would be nice. I suppose it will happen when it happens.

I think they're using social media more and more to hype the season. I see a lot of stuff on Twitter, for instance.

Wait, isn't Enaruna a 3rd year guy? And considered a project?

Or is he 2nd year? Still, I thought he left KU because of playing time. If he can't get significant playing time on a team coming off a 2 win season, he should've gone to a mid-major.

Your right I think. I like the stuff on here I've seen from the Men's BB Twitter for example (like you said). That is really good and nice.

Not the same team in Ames. Can't compared the 2.

Yet even with the loss of Johnson, Hinson and, to a lesser extent Foster, he still isn't a significant contributor?
I think he will be in the rotation before Walker. That wasn't my point tho.

He's not exactly what you think of when you think of a transfer from KU... especially in the system/style TJ will be playing for the first couple years. He's got some work to do and I hope he can get to his full potential.

Yeah, I'm sure they're doing it on purpose. If they ARE doing that, then they are simply not doing their job. Their job is to cover the team, not cover the new coach's a$$.

Based on commentary from Bluhm and CW on their pod, amongst others, I think the expectation (hope?) is that Enaruna can have an Abdel Nader type of career at ISU. A talented but raw guy who might be a little up and down in year one but becomes a solid, steady contributor in year two. I'd be ecstatic if his career arc is similar to Nader's.
