Salon/Barber Etiquette

I have been going to the same stylist for ~2 years. Several months ago, she left for maternity leave and I had 2 haircuts with a substitute at the same salon. The haircuts were drastically better. Their work-stations are adjacent, so it would be unavoidable to see the old stylist every time if I were to make the switch. Would it be poor form to make the switch? Any advice in dealing with this or am I stuck with average haircuts forever so I don't feel bad?

I'm conflict averse. I would probably move to another state.

I have a habit of becoming too "friendly" with my service providers which makes breaking up really hard.

Yeah, my current mani/pedi gal leaves a lot to be desired also. She's just not one to strike up a good conversation about anything ISU and also messes up my nail color. Wondering what my next move should be also.:rolleyes:

We all have issues, debating on which gal should cut my hair is not an issue I would bring up on CF.

What nail color were you going for?

My girlfriend is a hairstylist and told me this happens all the time. I wouldn’t worry much about it but at least mention it to them.

You must have found one of the few non psychotic ones. I finally did too. It just took a couple tries.

My wife used to work at a salon and then taught cosmetology for a few years. My ex, well, let’s just stay away from that one.

Yeah...once you find someone that does a noticeably better job on your hair, it is hard to go back .

You are in a tough spot.

One idea - is there a chance they don't work identical schedules/days? If so, that is your out.

Make the switch. Maybe the new gal cuts on different days than the old one? Otherwise just make the switch and if she says anything just say your more comfortable with your new one. I quit my cousin because she wouldn't cut my hair the way I wanted it. Been with the same gal for quite a few yrs now.

Only one logical move at this point. Just shave your head and be done with the drama.
