RTT...20-20 hindsight.

See not everything out of Muscatine is bad. The lawyer that argued for Iowa State when U of Iowa tried to weasel out of playing ISU in football renewal was from Muscatine (well Nichols, tiny town just west of Musc). He was quite distinguished and lived in Ames most of his life.

(Edit: I read the entire obit, not realizing before that it covered the closing of the Nichols HS. I have actually reviewed the Nichols school archives on the Musser Library site.)

I went to Nichols Independent Schools K-6. They closed the High School around 1961. So when I went there they were K-8 only. When kids graduated from Jr High the school would bus them to their choice, either West Liberty or Lone Tree, for HS. I think it was about 60/40 West Liberty. (There might have been a few went to Columbus Jct.)

About a week before school was supposed to start, the summer before 7th grade I was at a neighbors' home, with a kid in the same grade. The mother said matter-of-factually to me, "Oh, you'll be going to West Liberty this year, too." I said "no." Only to soon confirm she was right.

A long running legal case had just been decided and Nichols Independent School was to be absorbed by West Liberty. They actually had to delay start of school to figure out how they would handle the 20 or so extra students per grade level. One of those life-changing moments that came completely out of the blue.

Took a trip to the TCities this weekend, got to see Harry Potter and the cursed child at the Orpheum, great performance and quite the building had never been there before. Darn good special effects. If you like the books or the movies, you'd enjoy the play. I didn't realize micro dresses were in but saw several on Sunday. Boxster would have appreciated the one that was all of 6 ft with black hair.

Ordered a battery charger after mine was stolen. Amazon says it’s at my house. I’m confused why they shipped it in a box for a car seat.

I open the box today and……..it’s a car seat. I looked it up and it is more expensive than my battery charger.

There is some poor family out there that ordered a car seat and got a battery charger.

Things not on my bingo card today. The passenger side window of my pickup falling down when I put it up. Googled how to take the door apart got it off. Cut a stick off to hold it in place and will work on getting repaired properly at a better time.

Hopefully they don't hook the baby up to the charger...

This morning I was just about ready to head out the door with the kids to drop them off at school/daycare when I start to hear a hissing sound. I come around the corner to see my three-year-old son with a can of cooking spray that he sprayed all over the kitchen floor. As I reached to grab it from him, I stepped and almost slipped and fell on the slick floor. His hair looked greasy as well so he must have sprayed his hair with cooking spray as well.

Life with mobile babies that "explore" more than you want them to...I remember those days. Glad it's you, not me anymore!

Years ago the passenger door handle broke off on my pickup. I had to buy a special tool just to take the darn inside door panel off in order to attach the new handle. That stupid tool is still sitting in my toolbox for about 35 years now.

My bank got bought out by another bank so I got a new debit card with a new number, now I gotta go through all my online accounts and change it. Thought it might stay the same because one of my credit cards changed too and that number stayed the same.

The video I watched said I need 3 tools, let's just say I used more than that.

I had to help my 7th grade daughter with some math assignments tonight. She does math like me, use the least amount of steps and not show the work. Of course that's wrong, so it took longer to do and we were confusing each other.

There was also a word problem that had to do with text messages costing 15 cents, they could stand to update the material.

I found out that for math, I could solve the problem, tell them this is the answer and then tell them we need to figure out how to get there. Math got a lot more difficult over the 20 years I was out of the education system.

I've always found it odd that they get told to do it a certain way, if you have your own way then use it. I told her most of the things she was doing will only be used maybe once again in her life.

Oh, great! My three-year-old son has hand foot and mouth that he got at daycare. He just asked me if I could wipe away the owies from inside his mouth.
Oh, poor baby!

Never had to deal with that, but I did have to shave the head of one of them because one of his classmates had lice, and they were "trading hats". Had a big conversation about hats that day. :D

A few weeks ago we found lice on LittleWx. Somehow we were able to limit it to just him.
