Who is planning to go tomorrow? Me +3 are making the trip for the first time. Hope we play better than we have recently as don't want to hear the Rock Chalk chant.

Any tips on parking and places to eat beforehand?

I’m afraid you will be hearing it unless they lay down like we did Sat.

We beat them pretty soundly without Milan in Hilton. I'm a little more optimistic about this game as I feel we are still a bad matchup for them and they are struggling a bit lately too. Regardless I'm excited about taking in some history and an atmosphere that is just as hostile as Hilton and we've had more success than about any school in that gym than anyone.

Don’t tease me. I was going to the game, but my boss called a special meeting that I’ve wanted us to have. So I have to be there Monday night. Grrrr.

The Wheel is a neat spot to visit. We went there on a football gameday and enjoyed the atmosphere.

It appears that the Park and Ride option has been discontinued for KU Basketball. We took advantage of that for a cheaper/warmer option of parking when we went in 2014.

Free State Brewing on Massachusetts is a great spot to eat, but I would guess it's be pretty busy so make time for that if planning on hitting up that establishment.

Also making the trip for the first time. Anybody have a pizza place that is the best in Lawrence?

Welp I wasn’t planning on going after Saturdays debacle but I found a super cheap single ticket so I’ll be there.

I have never seen Iowa State win an away/neutral site game (0-8) so bet the house on KU

Yeah we bought our tickets a few weeks ago and the prices have really come down over the weekend.

Hope your luck changes tonight!

The bottom started falling out as soon as Baylor got up on them Saturday and has continued to drop.
Can’t wait to see how cheap they are when we get into Lawrence tonight.

For those of you who made the trip, what were your thoughts (outside of the game)?

To me , it’s pretty amazing how much better the atmosphere at AFH is compared to Hilton. While the game helped, the fans are much more engaged throughout the entire game and the music (both song choices and volume) would probably have some of our fans not renew their tickets and/or many of them would send emails to JP complaining about it.

Cyclone Alley should also take a field trip down there.

Going to be honest, I’ve got way more respect for Kansas fans after last night. Way better experience than when I went to K-State last year. The people I sat next to were all great and respects of ISU. KU’s blue hair contingent is unlike Iowa States in the fact that they’re engaged with what’s going on and aren’t afraid to stand up and make noise. Agree on the music selection as well. This is probably a huge homer take, but honestly I’d still rather go to a game at Hilton before going back to AFH

Getting ready to head back to Iowa in a bit... I don't know how they pack so many in that place other than the bleacher style seating as the fieldhouse itself is pretty cozy quarters. That being said they make it LOUD because of that. We had seats maybe 5 or 6 rows from the upper corner and felt closer to the court than we do in Hilton. They definitely blast the music at key times too. Unfortunately had to endure the annoying rock chalk chant at the end.

Other than how crappy we played I had a good expirience. No jackass fans near us and had a fee Cyclone fans near us too so we weren't completely isolated. They had a pretty neat display on the lower level with their hall of fame and cases of KU athletics history from different time periods. Parking wasn't too bad, we snagged a pass in lot 90 for $5 under the $35 face value and probably got out slightly faster than we would if we parked in the lots near Hilton. Noticed some people charge $20 or $25 nearby to park in their yard or drive which wouldn't have been too far of a walk either.

Wish I had more time to just explore the area but we rolled in around 4:30 and drive around to scout parking then went to Free State Brewing for pregame. Spent the night at 1 of my friend's place in Overland park and headed back in a bit. I'm biased so I still prefer Hilton but for a game atmosphere AFH lives up to the hype for one of the toughest places to play.
