Rockford, Il

I've taken ***** with more class than Rockford.
and everyone from Rockford is late everywhere, everytime in college, when we had to get somebody from Rockford to a place we would give them Rockford time, or 45 minutes early.

Are there any to die for places to eat in Rockford? I am staying there tomorrow night after going into Chicago for a musical. I've never really been to Rockford so any info will help.

That's not very impressive you can only make it to Rockford before having to stop and stay the night. It's only 1.5 hours away from Chicago. Are you going to stay the night in Dubuque the following night?

My opinion of Rockford is based on the 2 times I drove through, and the few times I went up there to repo cars. Thought it was one of the dirtiest cities I've ever been to, & I've been to factory town Detroit. Although one of my favorite bands is from Rockford, The Goodyear Pimps. Great shows.

"I RUN A LATHE!!!...AAAAHHH GOT CHIPS IN MY EYE!" Awesome.

The Pimps - intro They have $0.99 downloads.

Rockford is also home to Cheap Trick, so they have that going for them, which is nice.

Lived in Rockford for a couple years:

Der Rathskeller is a must, absolute top of the list must for the atmosphere alone and experience of it all.

Stockholm Inn or Aunt Mary's for breakfast, get Swedish pancakes.

If you want to pig out, Olympic Tavern is the place. Huge menu, and tons of fattening food.

Five forks is good, but a little pricey.

If you just want to get a pizza for take back to room, Gerry's/Jerry's pizza has the best BBQ Chicken pizza I have ever had. Lino's is popular, don't know why(my thoughts).

There is this new place on the main drag of E State on the strip that has lions out front. I have heard rave reviews, but haven't been there yet.

If you want Burritos, there is a Burrito shop run by a Mexican family in an old Wendy's that are awesome - its on the same road as Der Rathskeller (Auburn I think it is, yes Auburn), about a mile or so more West - kind of getting in an area that may not look too safe, so if you are a bad neighborhood pansy, not for you.

When I travel I try to stay away from chains that are around here just because I can drive 30 mins and get to one right now. I did some research and found thunder bay grill I've never heard of it but apparently there is one in Davenport too. I think were gonna try this place.

echo other's thoughts, stay away, its gross.

Thunder Bay Grille is owned by the same group that owns Machine Shed and Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. As far as Thunder Bay itself being a chain, if you consider 3 restaurants a chain, then I suppose so...

Thunder Bay Grill is disgusting. Do not go there.

Disgusting is quite the overstatement. Certainly extremely overpriced for most of what you would get there, but I've never found it disgusting. Especially the Sunday morning brunch buffet.
