Rocco has not been the same since Cincy!

He had to wait until the third quarter to post. Joke still might be on him before this is over.
You said he would be "on" today.

Even a mediocre performance and we're probably still up in this game.

7/21 90 yds 1 TD 2 INT.

He could go 10/10 100 yds 1 TD in 4th quarter and it would STILL be a bad day at the office by Big XII QB standards.

Idk what product you think you've been watching the last month, but it's obvious to most of the fanbase at this point. He is off. WAY off.

At some point you might just have to realize we are just not that good.

Maybe, our coaches can only do so much with what we have on the field.

Especially with half our starters out.

Maybe, we just dont have the depth to compete, with so many starters out.

Maybe losing 2 top receivers, and replacing them with Dollar General generics was not a recipe for success.

Maybe playing what amounts to walk-ons on other teams at key positions eventually catches up to us.

But I am sure the armchair qbs on here have all the answers.

Bro, go read my posts. I never said ANY of those things aren't true.

I played QB 7 years (not on his level ofc, but anyone who played the position can watch and know when a guy is making all the wrong reads, all the wrong throws, mechanics are off, etc.)

And that is what is happening.

As I've said in the gamethread. Rocco doesn't need to sit forever, but Manske or Moberly need to come in. Otherwise Rocco will just keep doing what he's been doing since Cincy game.

The defense is playing RIDICULOUSLY inspired despite all the injuries (overwhelming, vast majority of injuries have been on D, not on O btw) Rocco has almost a completely healthy starting offense to work with.

And all I am saying is this is not all on Rocco. Hes not playing well, but there are a lot of others not playing well too. At some point receivers have to catch balls that hit them in the hands.

My problem is people putting all the blame on one person, when there is obviously issues all over.

I agree that he isn't the WHOLE problem, but he is a major part of it. His confidence is like lower than 0 at this point.

He can run at least, wish he would do it more (especially when his accuracy is this off)

Sure he wasn’t great today, but he was on for the final drive. I’ll take the W when nobody thought we’d win.
But somehow, I gotta believe you’re still pissed off.

Stop. Rocco mainly handed the ball off that final drive. D & ST were INCREDIBLE!!!! Becht played like dogsh*t and we somehow still won.

I'm more than happy with the win and I'll always want Iowa State to win. Rocco is off and has been off, me pointing that out doesn't mean I don't root for Cyclones just as much as you do.

Keep ‘rooting’ for the team and calling out all those dogsh*t Cyclone efforts.

I'm wearing Rocco's NIL sweatshirt. I remember hearing about us recruiting a stud from Florida whose major deficit was his height. I remember being told while I was at the WVU game from a fan that we got a good one and thay WVU was stupid to not offer him.

That said, I agree that he's not been the same. Honestly that's ok. He'll find his flow again and be better for it. Yeah it sucks that we are going through a rough patch. This does remind me of Brock and his slumps. I hope the coaches can figure it out and get everyone back to being on the right track.

It's not the effort. I never said effort. It's bad QB play. Bad reads, slow decisions, bad mechanics, inaccurate throws...

Never once called out his attitude/effort...he wants to win as bad as anybody, I have no doubt.

But please, please stop trying to project as if I hate Rocco, don't want ISU to win, or whatever it is...

He's playing badly, but we're winning despite him, not because of him. At some point we'll need him to win us a game again. And his play, confidence, & decision making CANNOT be where it is right now for that to happen.

This is seriously becoming like the argument when someone rejects something questionable their country does..."OH! You're not a patriot, you hate our country, you want us to fail..."

F*ck No.

I point out the flaws because we need to improve and become better. Like Campbell, I want Iowa State to be the best version of themselves. Keep doubting my fandom if you want, but pointing out flaws DOES NOT mean I don't care or I root against them.

GO CYCLONES!

Sure, it’s been rough for him the last several games. But the post game whining is amazing given that Rocco did have the biggest play of the game, by either team, with his 25 yard run late to get it to one score.

I’ll never doubt his effort or heart. But, he’s not been good for 4+ weeks now. It’s very tough to win when your qb is playing that poorly…as we’ve seen. I would rather go with someone who they’re not afraid to let run.

It all snowballs, the wr drops, the high passes or complete misses by Rocco, the Oline had horrible pass blocking overall for most of the game. The play calling at times was weak, and the defense gives way to large a cushion on passes. Did like the run defense today, some of the best we have seen in a month.

These things are not mutually exclusive. I’d venture to say everyone on here is cheering their ass off for our team but it’s also completely fair to make objective observation about our performance.

Being a true fan does not mean you blow sunshine and rainbows all day without any criticism of things that are obviously wrong.

This is just not that hard of a concept.

And if people are blowing sunshine there are plenty who immediately feel the need for a takedown. What is that concept?
