Rocco has not been the same since Cincy!

I don't think he would just quit on the spot. I think he has earned the benefit of the doubt through his character that he isn't that type of person. Maybe he would transfer next year but not instantly. I do agree with you generally that benching him isn't an option unless he just melts down.
It doesn't matter when he would transfer, it's all about that he would leave. With what he has shown in the past on the field, there will be teams lining up offering him 7 figures to come to their school and play QB.

Sure but I don't know that fear of losing him is enough to justify performance that isn't occurring.

To be clear I'm more of the mind that he's dealing with some nagging injury or the hits have affected him mentally mixed with poor receiver play. Guys are getting open and he's missing them but they're also dropping perfect balls when they happen.

Rocco is the best QB we have on the roster, there is no debating that, you play the best players, even if they are not producing at a high level. Do you really think the backups are pushing him, if they were, they would be getting more playing time. Right now the guys behind him are not playing any snaps per game, that tells me the coaching staff understands that Rocco is our best chance to win.

Honestly... I'm not sure what to think about this team, and Rocco specifically.

Take the BYU game for example.... we were dominating an undefeated top 10 team in the country and had a 14 pt lead on them in the first half. The BYU fans sitting behind me were not happy, and were saying how physical ISU was and that we were going to win that thing going away.

And then Rocco happened... and the "muffed" punt situation of course... and we collapsed. That game was only lost due to our screw ups... and them not making any basically. But some of these Rocco throws are just insanely bad... not even close... but are some on the receivers not running the right route, etc... who knows? But it's not like I feel each week that things will be better this week.

So it's not like we can't compete... we've shown that we can time and time again... like the BYU game. And so people, including CMC, are like... if we can just clean things up... we'll be fine. Problem is... this s**t just keeps happening more often than not. Games like the Arizona one are the exception.

Maybe. When players start getting paid large sums of money and can transfer whenever they want it gets more complicated than "the best players play". Plus there is also loyalty involved both with coaches and teammates. I don't think it's necessarily as simple as you make it out to be.

Why would he stay if he is not longer the starter and can go somewhere else and most likely make more money than here. Like most players he wants to play in the NFL, he cannot do that as the back up. If he is not starting he could as also view that has disloyal to him, that when he was struggling, the team moved on instead of letting him work it out.

I have no clue what he is going to do, but for those calling for the backup to play, just remember if you do that, Rocco is most likely gone and playing somewhere else next season. We know that Rocco can play at a high level, none of us have any clue if the backups are any where near that level, they may be even better, or could be a lot worse.

He’s ******* 7 of 21. That is just embrassing. There have been a few drops but this is just another terrible game. I don’t understand how someone this experienced regresses so badly.

But it is Rocco’s fault that he throwa high and behind a 6’ 7” tight end which ends up being intercepted.

We are close to the worst for drops in the B12, maybe in P4.

Rocco is not great, but having 4-5 drops a half is going to make any QB look bad.

Sure that INT was not exactly on Brahmer, but at some point when the ball is in your hands you have to hold on to it. And a tip like that is somewhat unlucky more than anything.
