Manna from heaven!

Thanks, Rob!

The “Always” quote:

“I think that’s a huge positive because I’ve said this multiple times, we’ll take the next step in our program when that offensive line can take the next step.

It feels like it's been a long time since we've heard some news on the team outside of scheduling. Great to see that the OL might be coming along. I really hope they can have a positive impact this year, although no matter what it really feels we will have a better OL in the future.

Campbell rarely (if ever) fluffs when he talks about a position group. We've heard him say things about the TE group before, and a few years ago he spoke on the Linebackers.

Remember that? Believe it or not, coming into 2017 the LBs were a huge question mark (https://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/linebackers.226005/). We were going to try starting a former QB and two others with minimal experience.

Campbell later said he thought the LBs would actually be one of the strongest position groups on the team. I think he turned out to be right;)

This is exciting. I would LOVE to see us run the ball with more consistency. Then Purdy could really shine.

Exactly. I'm really excited about this, honestly the last two years the biggest weakness on the roster has been the OL. Improvement there will be big time

encouraging to hear about the offensive line. CMC went on to talk about attention to detail and winning in the margins. He preached those two things last year, and frankly, our team was terrible at it. We lost of a lot close games with lack of attention to detail and winning in the margins. Don't get me wrong, I love where our program is at, love who is in charge, but they have to get better at above.

We hear how impressive the o-line looks every fall and they always under perform on game days. None of these guys could even beat out an undersized walk-on DT turned OG, Collin Olsen. So I'm having a hard time buying into the o-line until they actually prove they can play Big 12 football. Don't get me wrong, they have the potential. Downing could end up being an NFL draft pick in a few years. I would love to see Ramos have a great career. Some of the younger guys look like they could be studs (particularly Treiber, Hufford and Miller) but we'll have to wait and see... With Manning being o-line coach of the year before coming to ISU, we all assumed we were goin to have great o-lines every year. I hasn't happened. Not even close. Good-Jones, Meeker and Knipfel started a ton of games at ISU and none of them were drafted. That really says something. I love these coaches but this is probably the one area where I have to criticize them a little bit.

Treiber and Ramos are in a different tier talent wise when compared to JGJ, Meeker and Olson.

can you go into a bit of detail about what you have seen? Why didn’t he get more playing time last year ?

ty for your input
To me it was simple as to why the younger guys didn’t play.

It wouldn’t have been a big drop off had they played ahead of the upperclassmen, but you’ve heard Campbell say it several times that he’d rather play a lineman too late than too early.

Gave them an extra year to develop. I think they will be ready. They are some physically impressive guys.

He was highly touted coming in. I was a little disheartened when he didn't take JGJ's spot for the bowl game and they decided to play musical chairs with the line instead. Hope MC had his reasons and it wasn't a refection of Ramo's development.

Campbell has been consistent in his praise for Ramos. I expect him to be an all conference guy before his career is over. I don't take Campbell's comments too seriously when he's discussing a position group, but when he consistently mentions an individual player, you can bet that that guy is going to be a solid player at the least.
