What is the timetable for the Big 12 TV contract? Ik it expires in 2012, but when will they get into heavy talks with the networks?

Talks have already started and are currently ongoing. It will only be a 4 year contract to sync up the 2nd tier rights with the 1st tier right in 2016, which will be a very, very important year for ISU and the Big 12 conference.

They have apparently started for the 2nd tier rights that expire in 2012. I've read that they could be finalized by this March. The projected numbers from the new contract are a key enabler for likely commencing the FB complex and south end zone projects in 2012.

Can the contract be signed before 2012? Or when could it be finalized. Thanks for the info.

I was wondering when this was going to come out. I know someone from one of the companies that didn't get the bid to design the project. My understanding (from the person at the design company) is that they are not going to be putting up the scoreboard this off-season because the new FB only building will need to be integrated into the design of the SB. So the FB only office, the scoreboard and bowling in of the end-zone will begin after next season. I don't want say they are going on the cheap but the end-zone part will be economical meaning they will probably use exposed structural steel to construction it instead of precast concrete. You still get the same dramatic effect from a looks standpoint but it keeps the cost down substantially. I can't tell you if the end-zone will include 2 levels but even if it is only one level it will be expandable for future needs. Huge deal for ISU FB and will at least catch us up with some of the programs in the Big 12 and allow us to compete from better recruits. Really excited to see the final design/renderings.

You mean they aren't taking the scoreboard down? The new one will be over the jake and nowhere near the south endzone

Do this!

God that looks awesome.

This part makes no sense to me... the FB building is supposed to be connected to the bergstrom building, i would think that the videoboard would be completely disconnected from that.

I know...the new scoreboard will somehow be integrated into the new FB only offices/complex that is going in that parking lot in between JT and the practice facility. I haven't seen any renderings so I am not sure how that all looks but that is what I was told (I could be wrong).

Yeah, I could be totally wrong. They way they made it sound is the FB only facility will go in the parking current parking lot. Maybe connected to the practice facilities will just a walkway? I also hear rumblings about a tunnel coming out of the FB only facility that comes out through the grass hillside on the Northwest corner of JT where the team would enter the field on game day (that would be kickass).

My thoughts are an opinion, I never said you had to agree with them.

You have the right to your opinion. And people have just as much right to express their opinion you are wrong.

I am super happy about all of this, but I would be mildly disappointed if we didn't do this in a way that we could have the scoreboard up for this season.

I agree...I was pretty bummed when he told me that but I guess I would be willing to wait one more year if it meant all of that stuff would start. And like I said, that could have been what they (that company) was thinking and not what actually ends up happening. The company that won the bid for the design might have a different/better idea that would allow the scoreboard project to still happen this off-season.

Ya agreed. Some good info here.

I've always thought the team should come out of the ground from something like this....
