Rhoads/FB Projects

You arent hearing anything on this as it was not suppose to be public knowledge from what I was told.

My thought is we all pretty much knew the FB facility was happening after next season. I always thought the endzone would be the season after that. Maybe Rhoads was saying the improvements start after next season (which technically is correct) and then he sited the two improvements being the FB bldg and the end zone, but by starting after next year he meant the FB Bldg with the end zone to come later...he just lumped it in because it is in the future plans?

I knew there were plans for new locker rooms which were presumably going in the south end zone, but I'm not sure if that means bowling it in. My guess is if you are uprooting the south end zone, you might as well be doing major work, but its hard to tell. Either we are settling and doing only what needs to be done and putting up some new locker rooms, or someone stepped up big and we are getting it all done, again I presume new locker rooms would = at least a new building or bowled in end zone to tie it all together. This is news to a lot of people, so watching it pan out should be interesting.

@ besser and @ delt

Both solid posts. As a student I'm kind of ****** because I don't really like the endzone view, but I do realize that it was a luxury that ISU offers that most others don't. Im super psyched for this to happen, especially smack dab in the middle of when I am going to school.

One thing to remember, you'll be staring across the field at a huge jumbotron. That will make those seats better. The one concern of mine with this concept is that the student section will be right next to the visitors section. That could be problematic.

Serious question, why wait?

Also, the new "Cyclone Power" cheer would obviously have to be "Cyclone Mother ******* Power", with the "Mother *******" coming from the new student section in the south endzone. :spinny:

Uhhh..yeah...that's it. You probably made the don't know the words song profane as well. We can do without either.

I would agree that if this is going to happen, do it right now and put in the upper deck. OR how would it look if it were all just one level all the way up. Kinda like Kinnick on the sides? Someone with graphic design smarts get to work and show us some options just for fun.

Really hope they double deck it right away and just get it over with otherwise we will be waiting another 20yrs for the 2nd deck.

Just wonder if they can get all this plus the new FB bldg done in one offseason?

We've waited 30+ years to bowl in that endzone. I can wait another 10 to 20 to add an upper level if that's what it takes. I don't think people realize what a difference just filling in that endzone will do for the overall atmosphere.

Do this!

Pulled from earlier in the thread for you.

I agree. Possibly move visitors section to Northwest corner

Just piecing together what I've heard and making a couple of assumptions...the initial plan was to double deck the south endzone, move the visitors locker room and facilities crew underneath those stands and rennovate inside Olsen/Jake with the space that is opened up. While that has been on the table waiting for a big donor (likely Albaugh selling his company), things have changed. ISU has outgrown their meeting rooms, coaches offices and weightroom. Schools like KU have built impressive FB-only facilities that make the Olsen/Jake look subpar at best. It would be super expensive if not impossible to expand the current buildings to add the needed room. So, another plan was put together. I'm guessing that the reason why nothing has been said officially is that they want to see make sure the $ that Beebe is saying is going to be there is there for sure. Once that contract is signed, IMO we'll see renderings.

This plan would be a FB-only building connected to the Bergstrom IPF that would house new offices, meeting rooms and weightroom. Other schools have done this fairly cheaply (as in $10-20M). CPR and JP have said that this new building is their top priority. When you look at it this way, that takes away the need for putting anything under the new south stand, greatly decreasing the cost. Obviously, they have found that with the new Big 12 TV money (and probably a decent donation or two committed), they can afford to do both projects if they forego the upper level of the south endzone...and I assume that the new south gate and south concessions/restrooms would be tabled as well because they would make construction of an upper level a LOT more difficult.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

If all this is true...I'm going to guess we'll be into Summer before you see/hear anything from the AD.
More than likely. I just want at least something so that its actually official. They can show the renderings later this summer during the dead period, but just put out a statement in the meantime so that I know it's actually 100% going to happen.
