Since it is a bye week, I will revisit the major concern of my summer (and CF off-season). As many of you know, I became aware of the existence of an extramarital affair pursued by my (ex) wife in May. Although I tood advantage of a couple of Fri-Con threads, most of you were very supportive when I would bring up the topic. Just in case any of you needed closure, I can let you know that the divorce is finalized this month.

Here is how it went down (short-ish version).

The affair fell apart after I approached her about its existence, at which point she left and moved back in with her parents. I never had to ask for a divorce, because she did first. We did everything pro-se (no lawyers). It was relatively easy, since we didn't have kids.

The only thing I could complain about is that she got the really nice washer/dryer set that I will have to replace, but for now have been doing the laundry-mat thing. Another thing that kinda blows is that my tax liability will be higher now filing single instead of married -- small price to pay, I guess.

Everything considered, I'm making out pretty freakin' good I think -- Getting the major electronics (computer and monster TV, but she took the blu-ray player and old junker TV).

The best part of all, I got BOTH vehicles (already sold hers), the house, and better yet, she gets NONE of my 401k or any alimony, either.

As if things couldn't look better, ISU is 3-0 and I am in line for a promotion at work!

ATA BOY!

Awesome, you definitely got the better deal. My first wife took the house (worth it), my 401k (worth it), most of the furniture (worth it) AND the washer and dryer (I bought better ones any way.) As the old saying goes "do you know why divorces cost so much? Because they're worth it!" A year from now, you'll be in much better shape than she is - guaranteed.

Just curious, but why did you guys feel the need to quote the entire original post? Did you think if you didn't we wouldn't understand that you were replying to the OP?

Anyway, congrats OP! Sounds about as good as you could expect a divorce to go.

Probably out of habit from posting in the cave........ why, did you sprain your finger scrolling down the page... my apologies...... you might want to have the sand removed from your ******

I thought it was a good story to keep reprinting. This is the best outcome that I have heard in a long time for divorces.
