Our projected starting defense could still be mostly returnees, which should ease some of the turnover concerns. I think we essentially just flushed the depth - obviously Young hurts - that couldn't push through to the starting lineup and our 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes (mentioned by Campbell as his best ever) are ready to replace those who have transferred out at the depth spots. Our success over the past few years has been being able to rotate in guys to keep the D fresh and not having a big drop-off. If the below holds true, we just need depth to step up. I really like the look below, just worried about the loss of Rose.

SDE: Blake Peterson
NG: Isaiah Lee/JR Singleton
DT: MJ Anderson/Tyler Onyedim
WDE: Will McDonald (big assumption here)
LB: Reeder
LB: Gerry Vaughn
LB: Orien Vance (another assumption)
CB: Anthony Johnson
CB: Myles Purchase/TJ Tampa
S: Beau Freyler
S: Craig McDonald
S: Jordyn Morgan

I'm no longer worried about the defense at all next year.

Biggest question marks will be replacing the production from Kolar and Hall. Need one receiving threat emerge between Shaw, Jackson, Dean, Moore and Noel and maybe one freshman WR to contribute. I think RB will end up being fine.
I'm still pretty worried about our secondary until proven otherwise

That's a pretty salty group. McDonald is the lynchpin though and we need it. If he comes back, offensive schemes against us completely change due to his presence.

I'm less worried about the talent we're losing than the leadership we're losing. We can find another guy that is similar in size and speed to mike rose (not easy) but replacing his leadership and awareness on the field will not be. In fact, last year when we played without him the defense was routinely picked apart. Maybe it was for another reason
