Also, on a kickoff it's a free ball. Unless the receiving team fair catches the ball, its anyone's once it has traveled the 10 yards.

Except if it goes into the endzone for HS or college. In college the returner has to give the incomplete pass gesture to signal it I believe, I think fair catch may work also.
