Recruit Lists v2.0

So there's a kid over at Xavier with the last name Mcdermott who's pretty good at basketball...any relation? He's not Big 12 good, just curious.

Greg's nephew. I believe he's already committed to a smaller school. Not a high major kid.

Will Fran be the coach in 2017? If he goes O-fer the next two tournaments what happens?

The fun part is that as long as Barta is the AD its the perfect storm. He'll either never fire Fran, or fire him and make another bad hire. It's just great. Really great.

Kobe Eubanks decommited from Baylor yesterday... ISU is already in contact. Nice list.

"Chad Myers, Eubanks’ coach, confirmed that the following schools have already reached out to Eubanks: Virginia, USF, B.C., UConn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon and Providence."

“He’s actually going to wait the next couple of weeks and put together a list, kind of see who comes in and then kind of play it that way, â€￾ Chad Myers, Eubanks’ coach, told SNY.tv Monday.

Athletic wing.

Among that list of schools, we're certainly one of the better offers, but it may hurt us that we weren't involved as much the first time around. Looks like a good fit, though. If he prides himself as a perimeter scorer, we've got to be an attractive option.

That's a pretty big time list of schools that are interested

It's worth noting that Kobie Eubanks played his high school basketball for Our Savior New American in Centereach, N.Y. prior to needing this year of prep school in Florida. Our Savior New American is where Cheick Diallo plays.

The only thing that is a bit concerning to me is that he decommited from Baylor because they also recruited a few other similar guys to him at his position which he'd have to compete with for playing time, and "he thought he would have a chance to play next year". With that said, while we don't immediately have any other shooting guards in this class to compete with, if what he is looking for in a school is the best chance for immediate playing time, I'd say there are greater chances of that at some of those other schools than here. Lets just hope Matt can convince him there is enough weight to all the other benefits of playing at ISU.

That was my immediate thought as well, but BD-J will be graduating thus opening up 30ish minutes of playing time.

Currently I would expect Matt Thomas to be earmarked as the SG starter next year. That said, Eubanks is more in the mold of a Kane/Dejean-Jones type player there are "starter level" minutes available for that role next year. Most top 25 programs have talent and a penciled in starter at SG next year like ISU, just a matter of Fred and Matt A. to convince him that he will get the oppertunity he wants in Ames.

Added bonus that we play Maryland tonight on national tv, considering Kobe is making his first cuts in a couple of weeks. I'd assume he'd be tuned in to check out both styles of play.
