Recruit Lists v2.0

Creighton? Since Dougie McBuckets is gone, they're going to go back to a defense-first half court style most likely. Not sure why someone as athletic as Clarke is considering playing for this guy. They will be an awful team without 80% of their offense since everything was focused around Dougie.

Or McDermott will point at the empty void left by Dougie and say "Look what I have available. The last guy that was there was a three time All American. Wanna fill it?"

Not going to say it isn't nice, because it is, but not sure I'd go any further than that. It's not like he lives a thousand miles away.

It's also not like great players from Minny haven't totally ignored us in the past either.

It does mean something, what TBD.

Obviously reading between the lines but this isn't a very reassuring answer.

Gopher Hole: I know that it is still so early in your recruitment and Iowa State was the first school to offer you. How pleased were you to finally get that first offer?

Goanar Mar: I was very pleased. Very thankful. It just shows me that I want to work a lot harder to get more.

@TravisHines21: Iowa State hoops expected to welcome a pair of visitors this weekend http://t.co/W8HYAnTbA2

Biggest takeaway here: "Both Dime and Diallo are post players, but the feeling is they are not mutually exclusive."

While that seems like something the staff might think, you have to wonder how eager the "2nd guy" would be to join a potential 2015 frontcourt of:

4/5: McKay
4/5: Dime or Diallo
3/4/5: Niang
3/4: Abdel Nader
3/4: Darien Williams

Since Georges is the only guy on the list that's "played and displayed" in D1, I would think the chances to play are good right now. This should change as we go deeper into the year.

********** everywhere

Nader, Williams and Niang can be outside-in guys.

Absolutely. I guess to be more specific - does Hoiberg want to play more than 1 guy who isn't an outside threat (McKay, Dime, and Diallo) at once? With as much as he wants to spread the floor, it's hard to do without getting 4 guys outside or near the arc. The 5th guy is usually on the baseline outside of the lane, or at the elbow.

disclaimer: I don't know that Dime or Diallo CAN'T be a threat outside - just doesnt seem to be the perception.

If we were to land Diallo I can almost promise you our starting frontcourt next year would be Niang, Diallo, Mckay. With the shot blocking ability of both Diallo and McKay and their ability to run the floor like gazelle we'd be running and gunning like crazy. In the half court offense a potential All-American in Niang isn't a bad option to run your offense through and I'd guess we see a lot more screen and roll offense putting the ball in Monte's hands and letting him make plays. Fred is so good at adapting his offense to fit the personnel.

When you get used to defending a more traditional lineup he'll throw a Hoiball look at you:

Morris
Thomas/Cooke
Long
Nader
Niang

Good luck. Snipers everywhere!

I'd take that bet.

Which is why it would be McKay.

We can agree to disagree on that one. No chance McKay comes off the bench. Also, for what its worth, I'll take a 22 year old senior in McKay who has been in the program for three years over any freshman post player in the country.
