Looks like, according to scout.com, Jaylen Johnson has become a main target for Louisville and 2015 6'9" center Cheick Diallo is being targeted by some big time blue bloods like Kansas and UNC among others.
I think ISU fans need toget used to this happening

A short snip from the JP Macura article...

"Q: You say playing with Vaughn wouldn’t be a problem if you both picked Minnesota. What about playing with another 2014 shooting guard somewhere else?

A: Every school that I look at, I just try to figure out if there are other wings that have committed, have high interest or are already there. I just have to pay attention. I don’t want to sit at a school for two years and not play. I have to be smart and look at the school because I don’t want to go somewhere where there’s a kid at the same position as me in the 2014 class. Two kids at one position, I don’t think would work out too well."

This is my only concern about Macura.. Iowa State has some special young guards right now and we will continuously be bringing in talented guards. Don't think it will be the biggest factor but he will have to want to be a competitor and minutes won't just be handed to him. He will have to earn it

Is Custer going to see a lot of minutes? Feels like this guy made an early commitment and our guard play is so heavy. Worried he doesn't realize it and will likely want to transfer after a year or two. While I don't know too terribly much about him, I know he's going to be behind Morris his first three years and Morris appears to be better and will get a ton of minutes. What does everyone else think?

Custer is a smart kid so he knows who is on our roster. But there is no guarantee that you'll play anywhere you go. It's not as if Okie State isn't going to bring in other guards.

Plus there's no way to say who will be starting 2 years from now. Custer is young so he might develop into a better PG than Morris for all we know.

IMO, no incoming freshman should be worried about sitting for one year at a high major. It's just not realistic for most (unless they are really good, or go to a bad D1 program).

that said Morris shouldn't have to play 40 mins a game, and if they can both score - they can both be on the court at once. I know some recruitnik have called Morris a combo guard in the past - we'll find out what he is at the next level.

Speaking of Custer:

Eric Hampford@Future150EricH16h
2014 guard Clayton Custer of Team YOBO is a fun kid to watch. Type of kid who destroys NCAA Tournament brackets. #UASummerJam2K

I get the impression that Morris is a more controlled type PG like Diante -- a guy who makes the right decisions, the easy passes, etc -- while Custer is the type that is wont to launch a 25 footer when he is feeling it, kind a like a Lucious.

Custer's Soph year, assuming everything stays the same:

Custer
Morris
Thomas
Niang
Nader

Right?

If these players are as good as advertised, Niang might not be here, same with Thomas and Morris. I think there's an outside shot those players go to the NBA before their senior season.

Actually it's the opposite.

Certainly can't predict the future but staff is very high on Custer as a pg. Like many have said on here, we need more than one pg, espec since Kane and Bubu are gone after this year.

Right?

I know Fred's fine with playing small and we'll certainly see that line up at times depending on matchups but that's too small to see as a starting rotation IMO.

That's 6'0", 6'2", 6'3.5", 6'7", 6'7"

Small, yes. A threat from anywhere? Also, yes. Probably have the luxury of pushing tempo with any of them. I know...it's not a likely scenario, but could that squad run or what? It's also a long way off. Damn...I need me some college football or something.

I disagree. I do think Monte is a lot like DG, but I don't think Custer is as trigger happy as you make him sound. I think him to have a VERY high basketball IQ and will make the pass before the shot. But what do I know?

We went 5'11", 6'5", 6'6", 6'7", 6'7" this year with our 6th man at 6'2" and that seemed to work out pretty well. Don't get why people are always so worried about height when we spread the floor so much.
