According to 247sports.com player profile, Louisville and ISU are the favorites for Jaylen Johnson. Would love to get that guy.

Jaylen Johnson

I think we can out recruit Louisville in this situation. Just let him know how well Niang and Ejim are doing here with a similar skill set, and how much PT he will get here vs. Louisville.

this guy would be a great get, he's young for his class only 16 and almost 6-9. he was originally saying he would visit Iowa State, FSU and Arizona State, but Louisville just started on him recently and he visited already and was wowed. He looked great at a couple recent camps and could see his recruitment blow up even more after the July eval period. other than Cunningham, Macura, I was hoping for a couple visits in June by some of these guys, guess we'll have to wait until fall and see who takes an official to ISU

And then Pitino says, hey I've won championships and been to multiple final fours. Come here and you can do the same.

As I'm sure he has, yet why hasn't he committed yet? Hmmm, may e because he isn't stupid and what's to go pro. You can't go pro while being on the bench.

True, but do you really think he'll get any PT there? I'd call it stupid for that reason.

Why are you concerned about playing time for a top 30 player at someone else's school? Has Jaylen said that he only wants to go play wherever he can get the most playing time? He's top talent, he'll get PT wherever he goes.

Yes. He's good.

(He's not top 30 talent right now actually, he's top 100) maybe I'm concerned about the PT from a recruiting standpoint. I don't care about their rotation.

I know he's good. I never questioned that. To Louisville, he's just another player. To us he could be special. He needs to realize this.

People keep feeding themselves that line, but it just isn't true.
When you make big contributions at a big-time program, they remember that stuff forever. You become a part of their folklore, and they just don't forget that.

If he's got the talent, he can be special anywhere.

As Thomas and Morris verbally committed last June, I was hoping for the same this month. Still 9 days left, I guess.

To be perfectly honest with you guys, I would rather have Malik Abdul Abu than Rashad Vaughn. Both are just incredible players, and I am not taking anything away from Rashad but Abu fills our particular post need. We are just loaded at the guard position. I don't believe the notion of "you can never have too many quality guard preach. Bologna! If that is the case then you will just have mass transfer exodus at the guard position because of lack of playing time and then a void with the post players because you chose not to go deep with big men.

Getting a player like Vaughn would mean much more than just having him on our team for one season. It's gets our name out there on a national level that Fred can pull in elite recruits. It gets our name out there to other elite recruits that it's OK to come to a school like Iowa State instead of the bluebloods. Vaughn is the unanimous #1 SG in the 2014 class. This isn't just some other 3* SG, Vaughn is elite. He could take ISU to a new level next year that we've never seen before. You don't pass on elite talent, ever.

Not to mention getting Vaughn doesn't mean Fred can't get Abu either. Since Vaughn is likely here for only a year, it also won't effect Fred's effort at getting someone like Grandstaff. It's truly ridiculous for anyone to say they don't someone like Vaughn.

Patino or Hoiberg? Not even a question unless I am from iowa loving isu. Patino is a coaching 1st ballet hall of famer who just won the national title.
