Hopefully everybody remembers that Matt Thomas was a TJ recruit. TJ left before Matt came. He said it was difficult hearing that TJ was gonna leave but was already sold on Hoiberg and Iowa State. Shouldn't be too surprising that other recruits feel the same.

Some good news on Coffey the day Matt leaves for St. John's.

Darren Wolfson@DWolfsonKSTP3m3 minutes agoMatt Abdelmassih was heavily involved for ISU on Hopkins' Amir Coffey. But told him leaving doesn't impact Amir's interest. Key is Hoiberg.

So Matt is already working all his contacts for St Johns. Nice.

So all our inside thoughts and info will be thrown in our face for the 2016 recruits by SJU staff? Fred must feel like Barnes did this past week.

I'll be shocked if Matt A steals anyone outside of Diallo and Yakwe.

Fred typically has the Minny/Illinois/Iowa bordering states on lockdown. Mann has the Great Lakes Region.

Reading between the lines, Matt will work his old recruits/contacts first.

I guess I kind of expected Matt to continue recruiting kids that he's built relationships with if they fit in at St. John's. That tweet didn't really have anything to do with that, but more that Coffey is still interested in ISU despite Matt leaving.

I read the tweet the opposite way. Daren W. tweeted that Matt A. told Amir K. to not be concerned by Matt's leaving. Stick with Hoiberg.

I think there is a comma missing, and a source is telling Darren Wolfson that Matt leaving doesn't impact Coffey 's interest. The reason he is interested in Iowa State is bc of Hoiberg.

For having all these states on "lockdown", we really haven't signed a lot of players.

Reading between what lines? That tweet had nothing to do with what you are saying. In fact it stated that it had no impact.

The difference being Matt had already decided to come to ISU, Diallo as of today's statement still has no favorites among the 5 finalists.

You don't believe that do you?

No, but that's what he said today at McD's event. Even if he is leaning in a particular direction, it isn't as strong as Matt's decision to come here at the time TJ left. However, I don't think he's leaning in our direction but waiting to see what happens with other teams' players/recruits. Our roster going forward is more set than that of KU or UK so if he really does want to come here, there wouldn't be any reason to wait. Still, I'm hoping the right chips will fall into place and KU and UK will be heavily stocked with big men before Diallo decides.
