I like Minnesota/Minneapolis quite a bit and have been there many times, but there are still plenty of things to do as a college student in Ames. To each their own.

nobody's saying that there aren't. But it's not a stretch, by any measure, to say that there's more to do in a place like the Twin Cities. Just by sheer population numbers, there's just more stuff there. Ames is a fun place, too, but there's less here.
Yep. Like I said, I love Ames and I think it's a better college town. But what Janny said.
Isn't this a good thing? More things to do means there is less interest in U of M basketball because of other options. The sports teams you hear about in the Twin Cities this time of year are the Wild and Wolves. In Central Iowa, its Cyclone (and Hawkeye) basketball. If you're going somewhere to play college basketball, don't you want the locals to be interested in college basketball?

I think it entirely depends on the player and what appeals to them. That's why it's silly for the Gopher fans to automatically assume that no player would choose ISU over Minnesota, simply because of the Twin Cities. But, that silliness does not invalidate the fact that there is more to do in Minneapolis than in Ames. It's just that "amount of stuff to do" is not the only reason why people choose where to live/go to college.
Arguing about which city has more to do relating to a recruit is a silly argument. Not everybody wants the big city lights, and not everybody wants a small city. Every person is different. Being a kid who grew up in Arlington, Virginia (city of 200,000+ people crammed into less than 30 square miles and literally right next to Washington, DC with another 650,000 people), Ames was a much different place for me. Sure, I enjoyed it but couldn't wait to get the heck away from there when I was finished. You will always have city people that say "I love the city" or "I want to get away from this city" so why are people trying to argue it both ways when you don't know what exactly the recruit wants?
Burton and McKay both said they transferred to get away from home. Every player looks for different things, that's why the coaches need to sell what matters to them

Good to see that the staff is prioritizing him and keeping contact. I believe I saw on twitter that Rowan was visiting NC St. yesterday and was in attendance for Duke upset.
Update on Amir Coffee w/ video. Sounds optimistic about the rehab and that he'll be able to possibly play on the July/late summer AAU circuit. Also Baylor was in to visit him last week (as was ISU and U of Minny)

@TravisHines21: For those asking about ISU hoops recruits in for Saturday: Expect a few, but not a huge group. Will have some names later this week.
I'm hopeful we can get Amir Coffey to this game, given that his high school season is (unfortunately) over. Would be great to have him on campus, given that he's one of our top targets AND he's a 2016 guy who plans on deciding early. In fact, he tweeted about two weeks ago that he was considering making his college decision this winter. Would be really nice to get someone committed and on board well in advance rather than coming down to the wire with our top targets like we have recently.
