- Virginia native Chris Clarke was one of the breakout players of the summer, and at the time, it looked like Virginia Tech was the favorite. UConn has certainly closed the gap, but the Hokies have a chance to regain some momentum this weekend. Tennessee and Creighton are on his list.

We aren't even being mentioned with Clarke anymore.

That kind of sucks that he wants to play for *yawn* Buzz Williams. Virginia Tech has lousy facilities, no fanbase for basketball (I live in Northern Virginia and everyone I know from Virginia Tech said they went to maybe a game or two a year and the stadium was always empty), and haven't made the tourney since 2007. Buzz had one really good year at Marquette and that's it. Hopefully he wakes up and realizes that a high-flying athlete like Clarke would excel the best at Iowa State under CFH.

He's from VA though, no?

Yeah, he is. A lot of the really good Virginia recruits go to school in NC, Georgetown, or now UVA since they have Tony Bennett at the helm. Virginia Tech is where the guys go that usually can't quite get an offer by those kinds of schools. Shoot, even more kids from Virginia pick VCU over VT.

True but Buzz Williams is a different animal than they've ever had there. The guy is a master recruiter and he'll have that program rising quickly. Also, Clarke may have been a VT guy his entire life and/or have friends/AAU teammates that are currently on the team or also being recruited there.

Buzz will get that program to fall as quickly as it rises. Going 17-15 and missing the tourney the year after making the Elite 8 shows his instability as a coach.

That is so weak. The 3 years prior they went; Sweet 16, Sweet 16, Elite 8, and made the tourney the previous 2 seasons prior to that as well. That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with there.

He doesn't know some key facts of the roster.
