I just have a feeling we're sitting in a good spot with JJ.

The Ville can't take everyone.

Sean O'Mara has cut his list and ISU isn't in the top 6. He had visited Ames twice but, I am assuming the coaches have been focused on recruiting Abu, Johnson, and/or Travis to fill the Post opening. IMO.

"According to his IBA Select travel team coach Dedrick Shannon, 2014 Benet Academy (IL) star Sean O'Mara has now narrowed down his list to six schools.

Loyola, Xavier, Wake Forest, Wichita State, Seton Hall and UMass."

That makes sense, and if true I'm pretty excited.

Oh well. I'm not surprised. With Niang having two more years after this year, and us chasing hard after Abu and Johnson, and us pushing hard for Diallo the following year, O'Mara figured his playing time was going to be extremely limited all four years and wind up transferring anyway..

The coaches must feel that he's not quite what they're looking for in a post. I think their philosophy is and will be going forward that they try to land some really talented/athletic post players and they will pick up a transfer or Juco to fill in here and there if they miss on their top prospects.

If they're going to compromise it will be on a more physically mature player, such as a juco

Good find. I absolutely agree. Our focus has been primarily Jaylen Johnson, Abdul Malik Abu, and Reid Travis. Quite possibly that particular order as well...

His six list does not appear to be first tier....

With the two openings we have, I am assuming RV is the top priority? Then Reid Travis? I haven't followed recruiting much yet this year. Who would everyone like to see?

I think the staff will make room for RV no matter what - I dot think they'll leave a spot "open" until he's ready to commit in the spring (that's probably nitpicking - sorry). Therefore, I think they'll try to get fall commitments from Macura and Johnson. I'm sure they'd love AMA and Travis but maybe they don't feel as confident about the relationships with those two.

Don't forget about Cunningham.. What's really encouraging is that Macura, Cunningham, Travis, and Jaylen have all been on campus and are scheduled to visit again during the first couple home football games.

Macura, Travis- UNI
Cunningham- Iowa
Jaylen- Not announced yet

Any recruit Fred gets on campus more than once you have to think we have a pretty good shot at locking up!

FYI If anyone is interested in seeing Jaylen Johnson and Reid Travis in action. They will be playing against each other tonight at the Adidas Nations title game on ESPNU at 8PM. Both are listed as back-ups so I am not sure how many minutes each will get, but being an All-Star game they should get some time.
Also Henry Ellenson is playing the 3rd place game at 6PM.

This is exactly right. I think Josh Cunningham is still a very real possibility as well.

Probably, but Vaughn committing could be all the persuasion he needs.

Timeline could affect this scenario. RV will probably wait until next spring. In this case, unless RV has given Reid any clue to his "likely" decision, I imagine Reid would lock a team down before Spring, unless he's waiting too. We'd have to have at least 1 scholarship open...and Fred make room for RV. Let's hope they are talking...

Ah - that's who I was forgetting. It does seem pretty clear that we are all about 6 players at this point. Hopefully at least two of them work out - I can't be disappointed with any combination as long as it contains a forward.
