I know the narrative on this board is that GK was an idiot while BY is a genius, but in reality I think the story is the B12 had realistic and strategically aligned presidents while the Pac had unrealistic arrogance. We were both offered the same deal. The B12 took it and established a look of strength and stability. The Pac rejected it and then floundered until they fractured. The commissioners get far too much credit and blame here. Even BY said in a recent interview that he got lucky, he had no idea the TV money and availability window was about to close.
The hubris is telling. That is the basis of ASU's attitude of coming to the B12. They view us as the Clampletts.

P12 contract ends in just 1 year. There is still a sense of 'urgency' for those four. So, I'm surprised we're not seeing more prognostication. Granted, movement of the eight was more newsworthy, but I'm still loving that the movement has yet to end.

The problem is no one cares. That's why they got left behind, and that's why its not really being talked about more. No one cares.

There's been a little bit of "aww, that's a shame, PAC12 was cool" but 15 seconds later it's "watch out for that Bama-LSU matchup in week 10!" No one cares.

This was so close to being us several times over the years. Glad to finally be in a more secure position now.

I spent the time (@ 1.5x speed) to hear what T Altimore had to say about realignment a couple weeks later. Holy s*** he can't even admit he was wrong. Such hubris in everything he says that is wrong.

Part of me wants to listen to Altimore for the comedy, but I just don't think I can handle another second of him. He has just said one shockingly dumb thing that defies logic and basic fact every step of the way.

Just remember, this is the guy that said
-No way ASU would ever leave the PAC 12 because they opened up some satellite arts building in LA.
-No way would anybody would leave the PAC 12 because their endowments are larger. Not sure what the cause and effect is there.
-Rutgers will remain a good add to the Big 10 because other Big 10 universities have donors in NYC. That's f'ing hilarious to think about Michigan or Ohio State's President telling a NYC big-time donor to meet him for a game at Piscataway so they can talk business.

He just says really stupid things with an amazing level of confidence. He's basically Kenny Bania.

Everybody still loves them some of that Apple deal

How and why does the PAC continue to say they are 100+ year old conference. The conference was founded in 1968, they were 2 different conferences that were dissolved before that.

The PCC disbanded in 1959.
The AAWU possibly could claim to be the starting point of the PAC, but the PCC was disbanded, and the AAWU only started with half the PCC members. And would be like the Big 12 claiming the SWC as the start date. Hell at least all the Big 8 schools went on to the big 12, so could consider the Big 8 as their original start, but they dont. The start of the Big 12 is considered 1996 (founded/formed in 94)

Big 8? Hell why not consider all of that history? Most of the Big 8 schools split off of the Missouri Valley Conference in 1928. So should the Big 12 consider 1907 (The founding of the Missouri Valley) as the start point? :)

FWIW - The Big 8 did consider the Missouri Valley history, 1907-1928 as part of their history.

What if Crow purposely effd the Pac to help his alma mater ISU in conference realignment. Lol that would be next level subterfuge.
That would be some 4-D chess right there. Looked to me like they were playing "piss or apple juice" (inside joke at work. Spoiler: it's always piss). Or maybe the classic game Hammer ****, where you see how hard you can hit your genitals with a hammer (another work favorite).

Wow. This AD was not smart. The PAC12 schools were obviously not "all in". We all heard the rumors about BIG10 interest in Oregon and Washington and Arizona talking with the BIG12. Was this guy in a fantasy land?

Actually, i think what he did pre-collapse was about the best he could do. He was facing the apocalypse with a rubber gun.

He was trying to manipulate the media narrative via Wilzano to make it seem like there was a strong force to stick together. Which they all WANTED to if the money was there. So he tried to create some kind of momentum for that, even if it was fake.

I mean, what else could he do? He got dealt an even worse hand than GK, but played it infinitely smarter. He just couldn't win, the B12 had a full house and the B1G had 4 of a kind.

Now after the fact, its less good, he comes across like a bitter angry man.

Gotta be SMU he's saying is better than Colorado right? I always laugh when these ppl were acting like there were needle moving g5 teams available. No one did more legwork on the values the g5 brought than Bowlsby. They evaluated everyone multiple times, any team worth it would have gotten a big 12 invite.

Crazy they were counting on the 8th biggest brand in Texas as their savior.

Local sports guy here (Omaha) had an interesting thought. Florida State thinks they are wanted in the SEC. But, ESPN has the rights to their games for 13 more years and FSU only gets $30 million a year all that time.

Why would ESPN want FSU to just change neighborhoods, and then they have to pay FSU $60 million every year. Meaning, it's not going to be easy for anyone to leave the ACC for quite a while.
