That’s exactly how I read it. Could this end CyHawk, or do we kill off the Ohio/ALR gamesTCU just canceled their series with SMU starting in 2025.
10 league games incoming?

Good info. All of this will be renegotiated for CFP in 2026 and moving ahead, will be interesting to see how that unfolds. This new/merged PAC situation reminds me a little of when the ACC raided the Big East and the BE eventually was left on the outside in football. There are no conference auto bids. It is simply the top 6 ranked conference champions. The top 6 could very realistically be B1G, Big 12, SEC, ACC, AAC, and MWC.
Certainly with ESPN+ the exact number of viewers is known. The two methods that get used to show average viewership are terrible. They either discount games that don't report like PACN, ACCN, etc. and don't factor them in at all, which drastically overstates teams in those leagues by a ton. Or, they count them as zero, which greatly depresses those schools and creates a larger gap between the top teams that get more traditional linear than there is in reality.
Surely someone is sophisticated enough to have a decent idea what ESPN+, ACCN, and PACN games draw that it can be used as an assumption. Even if that assumption is off by a lot, it's going to be more accurate than counting the game as 0 viewers or taking those games out of the average altogether.
Ive never had any interest in BIG football or basketball.Stop watching Big10/SEC football and basketball games.
Didn’t they just extend CyHawk to 2031? If that’s the case, I’m guessing ISU would drop its G5 or FCS game. That’s exactly how I read it. Could this end CyHawk, or do we kill off the Ohio/ALR games
There is a pecking order: ISU > Big12 > Great matchups from other conferences > whatever game is the only one on (PAC after dark)Ive never had any interest in BIG football or basketball.
But, other than LSU, i'll watch zero SEC games.
I watch as many big 12 games as i can, mainly bc i like them, but also to help boost ratings.
I'll watch Texas v bama bc Texas is still in Big 12. But if it was bama -tenn, or uga -auburn--not watching.
I’m pretty sure the contract language includes something that allows the series to be dropped if there has been a material change in the conference schedule.Didn’t they just extend CyHawk to 2031? If that’s the case, I’m guessing ISU would drop its G5 or FCS game.
I think it kills off the Iowa game. That's fine. That series has been beaten into the ground at this point. That’s exactly how I read it. Could this end CyHawk, or do we kill off the Ohio/ALR games
Which will be Exhibit A when the SEC & B1G want to change it to:There are no conference auto bids. It is simply the top 6 ranked conference champions. The top 6 could very realistically be B1G, Big 12, SEC, ACC, AAC, and MWC.
You are probably right, but its a shame. Rivalry games are a big part of the history, tradition, and fun (along with the regional conferences that have already died) that make CFB popular. It's not the NFL, but tv money is trying to make it that.I’m pretty sure the contract language includes something that allows the series to be dropped if there has been a material change in the conference schedule.
I don’t know how many years it will take, but I think eventually non-conference games will go away completely. It used to be important to get guaranteed home games but the TV money will soon dwarf that. I would guess eventually it will be 10 or 11 conference games and then maybe some sort of conference challenge game (like the Big12-SEC challenge in basketball) for the other 1 or 2 games on the schedule. I bet this is all included in the next round of TV negotiations.
While I would always like to play the CYHAWK game for the rivalry I have come to terms with it going away at some point. If the B12 does go to 10 games that will likely be the final straw. At least they will replace it with a meaningful B12 game instead of a lower level P5 team if it were to have went away before. I could see Pollard replacing it with a annual Sept protected rivalry B12 game like Farmagennon. Instead of having it randomly just make that the first B12 every year for both teams.I’m pretty sure the contract language includes something that allows the series to be dropped if there has been a material change in the conference schedule.

Maybe, but it's just another reminder of how dumb all of this is. Rivalries are what make college sports great.I think it kills off the Iowa game. That's fine. That series has been beaten into the ground at this point.
Agree, its a lose lose for both ISU and Iowa. Should have dropped Iowa game when we went to 9 game conf schedule.I think it kills off the Iowa game. That's fine. That series has been beaten into the ground at this point.
From a typical coach's point of view: I think you are right. Having two "warmup" games before a 10-game conference season is better than only one and a rivalry game against another PowerI think the big ten will eventually make the choice to go to 10 game conference schedules. So my guess is that will end the cyhawk
In a 12 team playoff, they will change it so that in most years they get the outcome TV wants... which is:Which will be Exhibit A when the SEC & B1G want to change it to:
the Top 2 ranked conference champions, OR
the Top 6 ranked conference champions also ranked in the Top 12, OR
just the flat out Top12 with no autobids.
