Then why not UCF/Orlando? It's slightly further from Tempe, but they both chose to single out WV because tons of people don't go there for vacation. It was a shot at WV every bit as much as a comment on travel.

While you are probably right, it really didnt come off that way. Especially, with the rest of the comments about how they wanted the PAC and the Apple deal. They came off as ungrateful and uninterested for the B12. The entire press conference was really bad.
At that point all the PAC pumping and propping should have been over, they have done that for over a year. Its over, it should have been time to pump up how great their new conference was. Not act like they were being held hostage and didnt want to join the B12. Really, looked and sounded bad.
Of course games matching up better teams are more compelling, but that’s pretty hard to do in advance on most cases. Not to mention, with 9 conference games in a 16 team league, you are going to play teams up and down the standings, and Somebody is going to play the bottom teams. It’s not like you can have all your games be the top half of the league play each other, then the bottom half of the league only play each other.
The best a league that doesn’t have obvious powerhouses and turds can do is schedule based on rivalries that at least maximize interest in the two fanbases.
Using the majority of twitter people understanding meaning before reacting is silly. The full context is someone joked that he would have an office set up there. His reaction was to that.
Not only is Morgantown a long way from ASU, but there is nothing direct for them.
I think as long as each team has 1-2 that would be enough.
Ones that i think should absolutely be protected:
- BYU-Utah
-KU-KSU
-ISU-KSU
-UA-ASU
-TTU-Hou (supposedly these fanbases really dislike each other)
I don’t know enough about BU-TTU or any of the others. I’m not sure OSU, BU, CU Or anyone else considers anyone in the league such a rival that they would necessarily want a protected rival.
I would rather play CU, KU, Okie State due to the history, but I would not think it’s some travesty if we don’t play them every year.
Notre Dame IS IN THE ACC. They have a say in what goes on. They also bring a lot of money to ACC football with the five games they play with the ACC every year.
Isn't WVU-Cuncinnati a rivalry as well? TCU-Baylor has been somewhat heated as of late.

Its again convenient that they have their NONREVENUE sports in the ACC.
Edit: Also note, half of the 5 games in the ACC are home games for ND, so are on NBC, and not part of the ACC media income.
So everyone that is saying 5 games, it is really only 2-3 games. Because the others go to NBC, and NDs media deal.
But thet are in the ACC. If Notre Dame asked the ACC if they wanted to cancel their deal the ACC would shoot their drink out of their nose and ask Notre Dame if they were crazy.
I listened to an interview today where he said he said it in jest but it was clumsy and it offended people and he apologized. Specifically, he said it was because everyone knows he hates cold weather and it gets cold in Morgantown. So take that FWIW.

Well, considering he and Crow are both complete idiots, it's not surprising. Even ASU fans/grads don't like those guys.
Crow just underscored what a complete fool he is in that presser. That was his introduction to the other Big XII fan bases.
I mean, the guy has to be walked through the process of realignment and what it means and why ASU needed to move. He basically has "handlers" that explain this stuff to him.
ASU might want to consider finding someone else. The guy's an embarrassment.
Of course, because ND being a huge brand, even though they only are only partial members, and very limited membership in what actually is revenue generating, they still bring money, and brand.
They dont want them out. They want them fully in. But at this point no conference/school has the stones to stand up to ND, and tell them to get on board or get out. Because Money. At 2-3 games they bring more value than 75% or more of the rest of the ACC. If they were fully in, they would bring more than all, and increase the conferences Media value substantially. But as always ND is selfish, and wants and gets a sweetheart deal.
If they were fully in the ACC, All of their games, except for an away noncon would be on the ACC media package. That would be 10-11 games, not 2-3.
And again those FB games are where the real Money and value is. 7-8 of their revenue generating games are on NBC and their own media package. 2-3 are on the ACC media package. and 1-2 are on either their NBC media package or on the package of those Noncons, usually the B1G or former PAC.
Again, all good for ND, they get pay from the ACC along with NBC. They get their Nonrev sports in a conference to play, it is a sweetheart deal for ND. Sure the ACC gets a little, but they pay for it, and the benefit is limited. Compared to what a full membership is.
Where are you getting that? Minnesota v. Wisco has happened every year since 1907.
