This makes sense to me. It still has to be really hot in Arizona in September…and even early October. You would think all their home games in those two months should be late…
I believe it's written into their current media deal that the AZ schools have to kickoff in the late window at home in September unless they waive it.

Still, getting an after dark game every week out of only five MT/PT teams is pushing it. Some weeks will only have two options, and if FOX takes the good one they could be left with 2-7 Kansas @ 3-6 Arizona or something. Instead of financing more B12 additions though they could just sign the PAC/MW hybrid for cheap to fill the gaps.

If what CW says is true that the big 12 took less money to go to 16. I think it would be dumb to go to 18. Stick to 16 for now. Let’s see if something happens with ACC. I think expanding has more chances of backfiring than waiting at the current moment.
Any validity to this? First I've heard of it.

I hope the big 12 is done going west. Time to just wait out the ACC. All of the western schools left would just water down the conference. It’s harsh to say but WSU and OSU belong in the mountain west. They’re much more aligned with those schools than anybody in the big 12.

The corner schools have a lot of their recruiting and alumni in southern California. That is the appeal for San Diego State.

This guy and Scheer get it at least. I can't wait for ASU to get absolutely destroyed when they join the conference

As someone who followed ASU on the side, yeah - it’s gonna be years before ASU is competitive in both football and basketball in the Big 12. Honestly - their first step is getting Crow and the AD out of office and starting over.

Locked on Big 12 has been resurrected. Woke up and it was in my box - former host of Locked on Baylor
I found the guy that does Locked on Ducks and Locked on PAC 12 to be good.

If Oregon would have come to the Big 12 he would have been a good option. I haven’t listened to the Baylor guy.

It’s hard for me to believe the remaining Pac schools bring more actual eyeballs than uconn would across fb, bb and wbb.
Just went up to UConn yesterday to get ice cream from the best campus creamery I’ve had (UConn Dairy Bar) and it’s amazing they aren’t in a P5 league. And it’s solely because of their football. But aside from the cultural difference between the NE and Midwest, UConn and Iowa State are almost mirror-images. The campuses feel nearly the same. UConn has a great ag set up and great engineering. It’s located in the middle of nowhere here and trust me, if you walked the campus you would think you were in the Midwest more than the northeast.

Might have another Memphis situation.

That makes a LOT more sense to me.

Theyd have taken OSU w the M4 if they were wanted. And SDST has a giant buyout now.

Or there could be discussions, but they are along the lines of "this isnt gonna make sense and the networks arent gonna pay for it. But if it helps you negotiate w someone else, we are happy to let you float some rumors". Sorta like hanging out with the hot girl to attract attention of other girls.

Not exactly sure.
In essence...so what? The media partners knew what value all the schools in this saga have, and gave the Big 12 a media deal that will keep them competitive among the power conference schools. So yes, "we won". The Big 12 is alive to fight another day.
Also, OuT got the best timeslots of the big 12, now those are open and someone else will build value by being in them. OuT will lose value since they will get pushed back some.

Anybody know what side this AD was on back when the PAC was trying to poach Texas and OU from the B12? Was he a “no” because realignment didn’t make sense? Was he against the PAC accepting B12 teams looking for a lifeline a couple of years ago, or did that realignment make sense then?
The ASU AD? He was probably busy marveling over the invention of the cordless phone

I feel like it’s worth noting The Athletic has been about as accurate as Altimore and Canzano except asks for $60 a year to tell you they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Stew Mandel runs the college football section - The Athletic was the hardest outlet arguing the PAC 12 GOR signing Friday morning and Stew was wrong just about every step of the way.

I’d just be careful thinking anyone from
The Athletic knows what they’re talking about regarding college football, their sources have been wrong about the entire time.

I could be mistaken, but I think virtually every AZ game in Tucson is a night game because of the heat as much as tv.

Yeah… for all of the complaining we’ve done about Baylor day games the last two times we’ve played there… multiply that by 1000 for playing AZ and ASU during the day.
