I wish this had all happened prior to promoting G5 schools like UCF, Cincy, and Houston. I'd rather have WSU, OSU than UCF & Houston.
Same, but like others had mentioned, if we don't add those schools we dont if we're even in this opportunity. Plus, I think as fans we look at those schools differently. Colorado specifically mentioned excitement at having natural recruiting connections to Houston and Florida

Preface by agreeing the whole thing sucks…

I doubt ESPN/Fox values WSU over UCF, BYU or Cincy.

Adding Houston and BYU is part of why Pac is crumbling. They’d have been the most obvious available adds for them given they acted like SMU was a great candidate.

Arizona Board of Regents meeting again today. Assumed it is to give the green light for, at minimum, UA to move.
I don't think it will work out, because I think the B1G is gonna take them, but I'd still like BY to try to play for Oregon. Just take AZ for now, and give Oregon a week or two deadline along with your best sales pitch (I think Phil Knight might be impressed with BY as a business guy), and tell ASU and UU they are in the waiting room.

Maybe, just maybe, if the B1G hesitates or decides not to add anyone, you can get Oregon. I think Fox will agree to pay their share for 15 and 16 if one of them is Oregon.

Then you can take ASU as 16. I am assuming UW will stick with Stanford regardless, though that's kind of a guess.

There's no risk to waiting - if B1G does take teams, ASU and UU are not going to decline a Big12 invite after UO/UW are gone...

8-3-2023 Realignment grades thus far:

A++: Jason Scheer - dude is killing it. Accurate yet witty.
A++: Brett Yormark - he's cut from the Pollard mold. Thinks proactive vs. reactive.
A+: Remaining Big 12 Schools in 2021 for sticking together and taking the time necessary to figure out the right plan.
A+: Cyclone fans - we've never been in this type of situation and we are damn sure celebrating it correctly with hilarious memes/gifs
A+: The refresh button on our browsers
A: Brett McMurphy, College Football Reddit, 365 Sports,
A-: Heartland College Sports - A little Big12 homerish but hell we deserve to be on this side of things for once!
B+: Bowlsby - Even though blindsided by OuT, had schools ready to go after and kept remaining schools in a state of solidarity.
D-: Stewie Mandell - upgrades from an F as he said he'll plan to go back on Williams/Blum's podcast.
F: John Canzano - you tried....you tried.
F: Larry Scott and George Kliavkoff - pretty sure those two got drunk one night and made a bet against each other who could tank the Pac12 worse.
F-: Tony Altimore - LOLOLOLOL

HM: I-80 Truck Stop, Washington State and Oregon State (they deserve some love),
Yeah, Pete Mundo at Heartland (A-) had been ripping Kliavkoff well before it became clear that the PACwhatever was about to RIP due to Kliavkoff's handywork. I may even have to get one of the Heartland coozies he's been trying to give away...

I’ve been to Duck games (ISU buddy moved there after graduation) and I don’t think they’d be a good long term fit. Buddy and I would go see a game in Autzen and wear ISU colors and receive derision and aggression. Ok, sure, I’m not wearing green, but do you have to be angry about it to the point that you call us out and make it an issue?? It happened on several occasions. We’re like WTF, we just like the game day experience and we like our team so how hard it is to deal w/ two numb nuts spending money in your stadium? I can’t imagine calling out a fan (from another conference) in Trice. I would be like “dude, thanks for coming to see our badass tailgate experience - come again w/ more friends”.

So, long story short, Oregon (fans, administration, cheerleaders, etc) would always feel they deserved the Big10 and would bring a lot of distain - they’d always be looking to bolt - like Texas.
I never understand giving visiting fans grief...they are spending money in our stadium. Stupid.

Ahhh I gotcha thank you for the explanation. I do agree and there's no way that Pac conference would get an automatic bid. No chance lol.
If its still the "top 6 conf champions" they would have decent chance.

In defense of the Wilner’s and Canzano’s of the world, you have to understand their personal livelihoods could be negatively impacted by all this. If/when the PAC dies, their “influence” is greatly diminished. As such, they have been doing everything in their power, which at the end of the day is not much, to shed a positive light on the Pac12 brand.

Scheer has been awesome, for sure. I think he recognized early Arizona (his circle of influence) had a lifeline and he’s pushed a different, personally beneficial narrative.

Altimore is a just a doosh.

I think you take the bird(s) in hand and kill the PAC 12 by taking UA and ASU (and Utah?) now.

Don’t give the PAC 12 the opportunity to pull off a miracle. Oregon coming to the B12 is really up to the B10. If the B10 doesn’t invite the Ducks they’ll have to come to the B12 if we have all 4 corners. The B12 will figure out a way to make the financials work.

I had to google this Altimore dude and it reads like a comedy display. Like really guy. What he is reporting is worse than any message board poster. Like wtf

He is a consultant, not a reporter.

But his recommendations here are insane!

Fight back? Change leadership? Hire new media and PR consultants? With whose money??? They already owe comcast $50M and nobody is going to extend credit to an entity that is about to lose all their members. MAYBE if they had done this 2 years ago, it could matter. But its way too late now. Changing the Captain on the Titanic really doesn't matter at this time.

Adding teams? LOFL. No one is going to get off their lifeboat to get back on the Titanic.

Stop cooperation? That's just petty at this point. And no one will care at all.

Honestly what they should be doing is talking about merging with the MWC. Helping their existing/remaining members as best as they can. Like helping your buddy move from his McMansion to an apartment after his divorce where the ex got all the money and the kids.

I have seen some dumb/useless consultants in my time, but this takes the cake.

Let's be honest, though - outside of Jim McMahon and Scott Sterling, does anyone actually care about BYU? (and yes, I know technically Sterling was a 2-sport athlete for Yale, but if you know, you know)

Yes. They're called Mormons. I think they all went to, or are going to go to BYU.

The dude is like the guy critiquing the people doing the work, but once you gave him the hammer to drive a nail all he could do is hit his own thumb.
