1 billion subscribers... o_O

Obviously George had to present a dollar figure that would be competitive with the 31mill the B12 is offering to even hold the meeting. I am sure Apple + was amenable to adding 10-15 mill to the Base line of 19.7 base assuming it makes business sense by getting a bunch of new PAC12 subs. Apple wins either way. .

The flaw is the PAC12 already tried the PAC12 Network and couldn't get subscribers.

Now they will draw the monthly subscription to get X subs because...?

If ORWA and Washington weren't worth $45-$50M or more, they wouldn't be in the Big10 discussion.

ASU and UU are definitely worth $32M+. If CU &UA weren't close to $32M, we wouldn't be looking to add.

What some people are missing is the Big12, ACC and Pac12 revenues are very close today. With OuT in Big12 and USCLA in Pac12.

What the networks are saying LOUDLY is they no longer value the Pac12 because it is a 1 region conference. The Pac12 schools will have more value as part of Big12.
Exactly this, outside of the valuations. They COULD have valuations that high, but NOT in the current Pac12. There needs to be more time zone exposure.

I'm interested in the ABOR meeting now more than I was yesterday. The deal that we're hearing about (less or about 20m payouts, almost all on streaming) is horrific, specifically for what Arizona has said they're interested in. How long do they really have to discuss before they decide its a bad deal? Likely not very long imo.

You would think most people in the PAC9 know that the sub numbers would be terrible. I don't know where the benchmarks are but casual people won't be subscribing and tuning in just for PAC9 games.

Apple TV is in the 8-9 range in the overall subscriber rankings. They have a base but it's not Prime, Netflix, Disney, etc.

Would this be an add on to an Apple sub or come included with the normal sub?

GK "We can actually match the Big 10 and SEC dollar amount. If each of you can get 5 friends to sign up for PAC on Apple and then they all get 5 friends etc. We will be there in no time!"

See you are looking at it from a large scale standpoint. What if you sell yearly subscriptions for $400k a pop?

With 10 schools each school would only have to sell 100 subscriptions to get to $40 million per!

So Apple gave the PAC-12 a deal setup to what they have done with MLS (which hasn't turned out too well for MLS).

I'd be curious to see how they would track subscriptions. Would it be like the MLS pass where you buy another subscription on top of your apple tv subscription like a pac12 package? If so, I think that would be a disaster.

Yes it would likely be a specific PAC-12 Network add-on for Apple TV

very true until Messi joined Miami. Once Messi moved over Apple TV saw an explosion of subscriptions last i heard it was nearing 1 million subscribers for MLS. (though that number is inflated due to season ticket holders getting MLS pass)

Oh my lord that sounds awful. Pay for the streamer that you can then pay for the network on.

Not doing it for the MLS (even though I've been a fan in the past) and I sure as hell won't do it for the PAC.

And as a college football addict who watches multiple teams from multiple conferences every week, I'm exactly the demo they'd need.
