"Just okay" is what the Big12 is going to get, and what they are going to be. Clemson isn't walking thru the door.

Big12 is going to be all the "that guys" - all the underdogs and "remember when they had that great run for a year or two" schools. But that is OK. If anything, it will be more competitive and exciting than wondering if its going to be Michigan or OSU this year?

They may have Coke and Pepsi, but we have literally ALL the other flavors - Orange Crush, root beer, Dr Pepper, cream soda, et al. So what if UConn is ginger ale? Once in a while someone at the party will want one, and bam! there it is in the back of the Big12 fridge.
Ginger ale is great when you’re sick to your stomach.

With an odd number of teams, you have one team with a bye each week, but it seems like you can still schedule 9 games for each team. Big 10 had 11 teams for awhile and they still were able to schedule enough conference games.

Big 10 ran an 8-game schedule when they had 11 teams. It’s mathematically impossible to run a 9-game schedule with 11 teams.

See, you didn’t take it far enough…

MWC and AAC decline our applications, forcing ISU to join the MAC, giving Hok fans their biggest wet dream ever.
I'd be MWC or pull a uconn (give up on football and join the Big East). The new AAC might as well be the MAC, we destroyed that conference just like we're going to destroy the PAC.

It isn't mathematically possible to have a 9 game conference schedule with an odd number of teams. Try to chart it out, you can't do it.
True... but we could add a draw of straws for all teams. The two that lose, get another conference game as long as it wouldn't be an already scheduled game. We all miss two teams every year. Draw straws and two teams play an extra conference game...

I'd rather take this route than permanently elevate freaking Uconn or Memphis. We can make do at 13 until a suitable addition becomes available. Of course this whole opinion is based on if no other Pac schools join at this time.

Just got back from 2 weeks in Ames after traveling too and from our flight to Chicago.

I feel like driving along I80 I saw more ISU plates, stickers etc between Des Moines and Chicago. Even near Iowa City and Eastern Iowa, and into Illinois.

Maybe it was situational due to RAGBRAI or something. But it had been a while since I did that drive. But ISU seemed more visible in support than Iowa. Anecdotally at least.
went down to the ozarks and saw way more iowa state gear then I have seen in the past as well.

He makes a good point. But sometimes perception is reality. I want to see the XII get the same credit that SEC football gets when we all beat each other up. I want the same benefit of the doubt from the media.

Hell, the B1G marches out 7+ teams each season to the NCAA tournament and all but 1 or 2 inevitably lay an egg. Lots of people still think they’re an elite bball conference. They’re soft.

My parents are large donors to ISU athletics, season ticket holders, etc. Didn’t know that BYU, UCF, etc were in the conference and had no clue Colorado stuff went down. Every fan base has people that don’t obsess about this crap.

Nice job of sliding the humble brag in there.;) My folks are the same way minus the donor part love ISU like going to the games but don't pay attention to a thing till they get ready to go to the games. Life is easier that way to be quite honest.

If the deal happens to be what has been thrown out there (around 20 million per school and mostly streaming), I don't see how there's anyway that AZ takes that. I also don't see how any of ASU, Utah, Oregon or Washington stay as well.
Somebody is staying - Big12 isn't taking all 5 and going to 18. I don't think the networks will pay enough to add them all and go to 18.

Either ASU and Utah get left behind and UW/UO join, or UW/UO get a B1G invite and then ASU & Utah probably get a Big12 invite, but ONLY if the networks will pay for it.

Honestly, right now, if the deal is truly as bad as the rumors, I think UW/UO would probably jump (UO for sure). And I think the B1G is sincere they don't want any more adds right this moment.

You could also end up with AZ, UO, and ASU maybe, if UW wants to anchor a conference with Stanford for a few years and wait on the B1G.

Fun times! Thank you Mister Yormark!
