Pac adding SMU after these pompous self righteous two decades would have me lmao.

They might as well tattoo "INFERIOR TO THE BIG 12" on their forehead.

SDSU would just be more of what they've always had. Nice weather, big media market, pacific time zone, few actual fans, similar academic profile to some of their other schools.
Agree, it doesn't raise their stature as a sport conference. But if it's the difference between survival and implosion, I can't blame the Pac12.

Not a significant difference between a couple of Big12's new adds and SDSU & SMU.

I get some satisfaction out of knowing what the Pac could use most is some actual rabid large fanbases with real eyes outside of the pacific timezone.

There aren't a lot of those outside of the Big Ten/SEC, and not too long ago in the "media market" days quite a few (ISU, KSU, KU) were just unwanted collateral damage as the Pac tried to carve up the Big 12.

Man, I sure hope that the PAC is happy with every dollar they pay to this clown. How in the actual **** does someone give him money to talk about things he clearly has no sense about?

25 isn't good but could probably be sold as close enough to not have to blow everything up.

Gotta remember that University Presidents are typically risk averse, and there's a myriad of other things for them to spend their time worrying about.
Idk… you think coach Prime doesn’t want an extra 6.7 million in his annual budget?

It's not Coach Prime's decision to make.
Sure, but when he has a blip of success and then leaves for a program with more money and better facilities and bad mouths the decision to stay, the pitchforks will be out for that AD and school prez.

As I’ve noted a few times. That’s like a 25% raise. People are crazy if they don’t think that moves the needle. You can’t move the needle any more without going to the Big 10 or SEC.

True, but he has to have input in to the decision. He didn’t go to ****** CU football to get told what to do. Have to think the lst thing you want as CU is Coach Prime pissed off 2 months in to his tenure. They laid down for him in a big way to get him there. CU’s only choice is to ride that horse or fall off an even deeper cliff.

I'd be curious as to what A&M's motivation would be for changing conferences. Money would play a part of it, but I think they would weigh more heavily the ability to play in the CFP more than most other schools. I think A&M's ego would say they could compete in the Big10 and win conference championships there, and make it to the playoff. But they may be enticed to have an easier path by playing in the Big12. Plus, they get the added bonus of getting out of Texas's shadow again.

Monetarily, they have all the resources they need to be competitive anywhere.
I hope they would do better than they did on this day in 1977! I had a friend who was an A&M fan, and I took Michigan in a $1 bet. lol. Tough day for the Aggies.

Obviously prime is going to have a say, just not final say. It depends on the president, some will go rogue and make their own choice, some will lean on their AD and main head coaches. Obviously the president will listen to their voices, but at the end of the day they make the decision.

Ratings matter to advertisers. You know those people who pay TV channels to broadcast their advertisements. LOL

He missed the mark with his using UCLA going to Big10 as reason why TV ratings don't matter.

The Big10 model is different because of carriage fees for BTN. For Big10 market size means higher revenue streams. After all, the cable streaming/split will remain around or over 50% this decade. Market size was the reason Big10 took Rutgers, an inferior athletic department when compared to all other Big10 schools.

I recall reading a TV industry article last summer in adding USC & UCLA (2 LA market schools), the carriage fee for BTN would be a significant multiplier above if the Big 10 had only added 1 LA school.

If ratings don't matter, then explain why the SEC media deal compares to the Big10 $.

JFC…

Big 12 fans have been through the wringer for over a decade and now this guy compares them to nutjobs who think Sandy Hook murdered kids weren’t real.

Sone of these rankings aren't really fair...is WVU a great school? I don't know, their mission is to educate the high school graduates of their state, not compete for a few spots in US News, the mission of a school like West Virginia is not the same as Michigan or UCLA.

Schools game those rankings. Don’t take them seriously.
