Guys I thought it was an interesting list. Because I had never seen one that put us that high. I also looked at the data source and it appears legit.

Do I believe it completely...no. But it is fun to see how triggered our eastern friends get when they see anything that dares put ISU ahead of their supreme institutions.

I know, how dare I post something on an ISU forum that puts ISU in a better light than a few ultimate Big 10 schools.

So do those figures represent football revenues for the 2020 fiscal year? Not following the timeline that these $$$ figures are being attributed to. According to this tOSU's football revenue for the 2020 fiscal year, which ran from July 2019 to June 2020, was $115.5 million.

It is unclear, but the way that reads is they included endowments in the numbers on that site.

My guess is the list I shared does not include endowments, which is what drops ISU way down.

Didn’t read the methodology but if true you should never believe that source. You legit believe that ISU is more valuable than Clemson, Ohio State, and within a million of Penn State and Wisconsin? Yeah sure

You know what, in my world Iowa State IS more valuable than any of those teams. And Michigan State doesn't even register. I still can't understand what would motivate someone to be a regular on another fan bases forums - especially if they consistently feel the need to "correct" people who enjoy reading/sharing something positive about their teams. Go look down your nose at Boston College or some other team in your own conference at least.

I don't see pods in a 12 or 14 team league.

So it depends on who the newcomers are to get to 16. But I would split the Texas schools and put Houston, WVU, and UCF together. Perhaps with TCU to round out the 4. I don't mind ISU and Cincy together. I just hope they realize there's a North South distance beyond just an East West.

I really would like ISU, KU, CU, and KSU as a pod.

I hadn’t thought about it much until now but I can imagine there will be pushback when teams ranked in the Top 10 don’t get in to the 12 team playoff while teams below them do get in just because of the conference they play in. Especially with teams like Oklahoma that will feel like they would have gotten in with their old schedule (USC to a certain extent will also feel this way, but they haven’t been routinely winning the Pac12 lately anyway).

I realize this happens already in basketball with the auto bids to lesser conferences that take away at large spots but when there are so few teams that get in and so much money at stake in football it’s going to drive quite a bit of discussion I’m sure.

I don't think this is going to happen too much. If you look back at the college football playoff scenario, the only issue you are really going to have is if a G5 gets an auto bid. I guess if the Big 12 or a watered down PAC 12 had a lower team, but that really only happened with Oregon in the goofy covid year. I guess in 2022, you'd have 10th ranked Michigan State.

Also, revenue is a pisspoor measure of the "value" of a business, much less an athletic program. It's clickbait.

I didn't look - is it net or gross revenue? With most programs spending every penny they can, that would be a huge differentiator. Can't imagine it would be gross.

Seriously, I realize revenue is not that realistic when it comes to value. It was a list.....that I came to from an ARTICLE ABOUT REALIGNMENT, so I thought it relevant to said thread. I just shared the list referenced it said article.

Maybe those non-fans of ISU, (Hawks, Kittens, Spartans, etc.) should stay in ISR, then we wouldn't have arguments when someone posts something positive for ISU.
