this would be the time to announce bad news. not good news.
Yeah, this is a Monday/Tuesday announcement assuming the university and conference control of the messaging. No way they intentionally let this out on a Friday.

Not exactly sure.
Google Oregon AAU status in jeopardy and you will see some chatter on it. Here is an example: https://www.oregonlive.com/education/2014/06/oregon_state_more_deserving_th.html

ISU was inefficiently allocating too many resources to energy/ag research just to maintain AAU status while AAU was putting significantly less emphasis on it. The cost was outweighing the benefit given those limited resources. And when ISU was given a final "no" on B10 membership in early 2022, it was time to withdraw.
AAU also frowns on private research. We aren’t losing research dollars I’m guessing, just shifting around to a little more private.

Neither does Oregon, and they also dont have an Engineering school. The 2 main focuses of AAU.

They also only have 1/3 the total research funding as ISU does. The main focus of AAU.

So if it is about the things that the press release said, about Medical research etc. How does a school like Oregon maintain their membership.

This is my whole point. They give reasons, but when you put those reasons up against other schools in AAU, they dont hold up.

AAU sounds like the NCAA.

If true, as I said before, why Uconn has been talked about. To replace an ASU or an Utah.
I’d be fine with 3 corners and UCONN.

I know Utah isn’t a popular add because of BYU and Utahs fans being a bunch of entitled douche boxes. But they are probably the best on the field football team we can add.

If Scheer's reporting it, I'm taking it to the bank. Dude has been one of the most level headed voices in the saga for a year.

It says a lot that the Arizona administration is that deep into talks with the BOR.
Has he been accurate? I have no idea if there’s been anything said that can be measured, even this far along.

My current guess at where things are:

Colorado-progressing deep into talks, but not quite done yet

Arizona-getting things lined up so they can move if PAC-12 media deal is too low, but unlikely to move until they know that number

Utah-similar to Arizona, but with a stronger desire to stay in the Pac-12 so less far along/less smoke

Arizona St.-doesn’t want to leave the PAC-12 and is giving indications they would go down with the ship

Gonzaga & UConn-would jump at the chance if/when offered by the Big 12

This is all absolutely nothing. Scheer just says the things we want him to say
I can’t really think of anything he’s been wrong about. He hasn’t really broke any news, he just reports it and gives some in-site like Chris or any other 247 insider. He thinks Arizona could be Big12 bound, and they could be. Everyone knows PAC schools are waiting for an offer worth staying. Deadline is rapidly approaching.

OuuT to the SEC was in the works for several months before the rumor popped. Same with USC/UCLA. PAC schools to the Big12 has just had more eyes on it because it’s so expected and obviously the PAC has struggled to land a deal. They went to the table before the Big12 who got a deal a long time ago.

Does he? He still says Arizona wants to stay in the PAC 12 if it can get money somewhat close to Big 12 money and isn't mostly streaming. I think the only thing he hasn't done compared to pretty much everyone else in the PAC 12 media is sh!t on the Big 12 and act like the PAC is a superior conference. I suppose having a civil tone is basically like pandering in sports media.

What has he been verifiably right about?

Arizona recruiting. But in terms of realignment he hasn’t been right or wrong about anything. He says Arizona will stay in the PAC if the money is there, and is willing to go to the Big12 if it isn’t. He’s also not opposed to the Big12 like most PAC reporters.

I don't see how the PAC can survive as a P5 conference.

According to Dennis Dodd, when the Big 12's new contract kicks in, the all-in payout per institution should be approximately $50 million.

If it's apparent the PAC's new deal will struggle to hit $30 million per school, how on earth will Colorado and Arizona not leave? The financial gap is just too huge.

So you’re proving my point. Nothing he’s said about realignment can be assigned right or wrong
