By Wilner’s standards, anything “positive” is when nothing has changed.

If there was a worthy deal, it would have been presented, signed, and GOR signed by now. My guess is there is no major change to the previously presented underwhelming deal and they are giving GK one last chance to make it better.

There will be a great deal next month, is the new "free beer tomorrow"

And i'll be honest, I hate it. Its become way too pervasive, and certainly doesn't make anyone feel good about some of the questionable officiating that happens in some games either.

The constant barrage of gambling advertising is a problem too. There's a good case to be made it should be banned the same way cigarette ads are, and many places are starting to look at these bans
The Tim Donaghy stuff still kinda rings in my mind whenever I think about this

When's the Big 12 deadline for additions? Not quite sure what you're getting at. Seems to me like the PAC has the time crunch, not us.
There's not really a deadline per se, but there's a lot that goes into making a conference change and institutions the size of a University aren't exactly agile. 12 months seems like a very ambitions timeline. We're about 15 mos out from the expiration of the PAC's current deal.

This all reminds me of owing your drug dealer and finding new ways to string it out because you don’t have the money.

GK and the unwanted PAC members will just drag this out until it's too late for schools to do anything but stay in the PAC. If there is no deal, there's nothing to compare to the Big12 offer and you can't make a move without that comparison, right?

Good lord, what a strategy that would be: "She can't divorce me if I hide from the subpoena guy forever!"

But really, there's no deadline from Big12 that I can think of. I think it's just a guy falling out of an airplane without a parachute - he's going to keep trying to flap his arms and fly as long as he can.

You read a lot of Pac fans, including from Oregon, hoping for a merger with the ACC. They all are getting nervous. You rarely hear a Pac fan clamoring for a merger with the Big 12.

The ball and chain ACC deal is through 2036, is average money wise, and the travel is horrendous. The Big 12 has a short deal, is with ESPN and Fox, and is closer in travel. The ACC has the better brands and academics. The Big 12 has the better fan engagement.

Saying all of this, you would think something like 6-4, 7-3, or 8-2 for ACC-for Big 12. Nope. It is like 30-2. That is what the Pac thinks of the Big 12. Hope they blow up.

I would be curious how an ACC/Pac12 merger is even possible. For that to happen ESPN has to agree to add 10 Pac12 teams to its ACC deal. At $17M/school that would be around $175M. If the Big12 adds 4 corner schools that's around $80M incremental investment for ESPN ($31.7x60%x4).

If ESPN isn't willing to be an aggressive bidder in the ongoing Pac12 media rights negotiations, why would they want to invest hundreds of millions to add Pac12 schools to the ACC? And I believe the current ACC deal with ESPN is for less money than the Pac12 is hoping to get with their current negotiations.

Not sure where the recent interest in an ACC/Pac12 merger comes from. About a year ago the UNC AD Cunningham brought it up in an email, but that is old news. I feel like Cunningham was using the merger as a tool to cause ESPN to reopen its deal with the ACC. With the economy trending down & ESPN laying off people, it might not be a great time to push ESPN. They might just tell the ACC they can do so only by breaking their deal with ESPN.

With the Billions that ESPN is going to invest in the upcoming 12 team playoff, it might prefer not being saddled with the ACCN deal ($250M+ annually) through 2036. It's not like ESPN doesn't already have the inventory with their SEC & Big12 deals. If anything, it would seem to add value to the SEC/Big12 deals as more football and basketball games can be shown on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 where advertising rates are higher than SECN or ESPN+.

I've never heard of any B1G interest in FSU or Miami. Doesn't mean it's not there, I just haven't ever heard those rumblings like I have about UNC, UVA, even GT a little.

Agree, FSU and Miami have SEC written all over them.
