Areas around UCLA wouldn't even know what the Pac 12 is/was.
The big 10 and SEC will break away, have pay for play, a salary cap, and have their own postseason where 40% of the teams get in. There won't even be any "playoff spot" as you suggest.
I actually think before that happens, you’ll see a purge of the lower end programs in those leagues, or a merger of the top brands in the BIG 10 and SEC.
It is that they continue to use teams like "Iowa State" as being at the little kids table. The don't bother to actually look at how Iowa State is almost a mirror of Utah. Population of the state, research dollars, attendance, number of students, etc. they brag about their research level which is like ours, but we get ours without a medical school.
I wish I wasn't addicted to looking at their site to get better links to what others are saying than we get here.

I think this is likely as well, because of the incredible value it brings to broadcasters - the $$$ to pay for it will be available. But it will not be the entire B1G and SEC, it will just be the top 24-32ish schools. I've been calling it the "superleague rapture" leaving the conferences behind.
If it happens, and there is a "college" football that is the Big12 plus maybe half the leftovers from the P2, that would be 40ish schools and that is just fine for a "college" football league across the USA. It might even bring the remaining G5s back into play more competitively. If it shakes down this way, I will absolutely watch this and not the "superleague" just like I don't really follow the NFL either.

If your judging a fanbase or a schools administration based on fan boards or Twitter your going to dislike every passionate fanbase.
First of all the $245M number is a low-ball offer.
Next the Big10 revenue model is different with BTN carriage rights. Maybe that changes in 2030, but for now schools in large media markets print money for Big10 tier 3 rights.
Plus I think the Pac12 valuation is artificially low because they play all conference games in MT or PT zone games. If they gain some ET and CT games, that bumps their media value up.
Lastly, there will be a novelty effect for the 7 year agreement of having Pac12 schools playing Big10. CFB fans will watch Iowa or Wisky vs Oregon or UCLA.
And it won't matter to me a bit. None of those schools are my alma mater.

Obviously any offer to the Pac12 is worth no more than the paper it is printed on until the Pac12 knows who's staying.
If I were Fox, ESPN, Apple or Amazon how can a serious offer be made as long as no Pac12 GOR exists.
Also, not sure it's a big deal that Pac12 doesn't have a firm offer in the summer of 2022. The Big10 didn't announce their deal until this summer and their media rights deal expires a year before Pac12.
In the end, a Big12/Pac12 combination is going to bring the most money to the table for Pac12 schools barring an invite to the Big10 or SEC.
I tend to agree, but not sure it would change the valuation significantly for respective schools.
The analysis still has the weakness of not normalizing viewership based on time slot or network.
Even before the USC/UCLA moves happened, the Big10 initially was prepping for a Memorial Day timeframe to announce.
It didn't happen and we found out in late June why.

The top PAC schools are worth a lot more in BIG.
All OSU games draw well, but Oregon-OSU was top-10 on the year and better than any other OSU game except OSU-Michigan. Add in BTN implications, the BIG adding the late window, and getting more of the base pay of CFP, and the revenue gap is narrowed, if not closed

It is amazing the complete lack of basic education, this country has. We no longer teach the basics. Things like geography are not even required anymore. It is sad how many people dont know basic history and geography.
In my travels around it amazes me how little basic knowledge and common sense people today have. I have had people mistake where Iowa is and confused it with other states dozens of times in my life. With not a huge amount of travel.
It is really sad.
Thankfully I have kids that choose to learn, and seek out knowledge.
My favorite thing in grade school was having to learn every state, where each is located and the capital of each. It's shocking how many can't do this/were never taught it.
