Testifying
Why would the ACC add UCF when they have Miami and FSU (if those two stay)?

Time to find out what the new commissioner is worth. It's going to be pretty darn good or a total disaster so lets strap in

Northwestern is irrelevant to Chicago's interest in Big 10 teams. Even without Northwestern, Chicago, along with Indianapolis and Detroit, are the centers of interest for the Big 10.

That's the difference between Chicago and New York - Chicago will always have a market for the Big 10 regardless. Conversely, they only have it in name only because nobody in New York cares about Rutgers or any other college sports team.
Yeah that's kind of my point. People are making a big deal out of media markets when they are generally irrelevant to college fan bases. They might get a large chunk of change for being in Chicago/New York now but when they try and go to streaming, how valuable will those schools be then?

I think it may end up back firing by either committing to traditional media for too long, or have assets that are no longer valuable when you take a way traditional media lenses

They can have WVU, Central FLA and Cincinnati.

Big XII adds at least 7 from remaining PAC 10.

I assume the ACC would wanna get into Texas. I don’t know if any of those schools would bail, but the ACC as currently constituted is probably “better” (in terms of $$$ and overall prestige or stability) than the current Big 12.

They stink at football but KU is an ACC option as well since the ACC is a hoops first league.

Another question is if I’m an AD and the ACC is inviting me, don’t I know that the big brands there are probably gonna bail at the end of the grant of rights anyway? So what’s the point other than temporary safety before being flung out in 2030 or whenever it ends?

Those teams don’t help the ACC that much.

THIS.

WVU and Cincy would already be there if they added enough value. Pac 10 and ACC merger maybe?

ACC could add the central time zone with combo of Houston, Tech, OSU, KU too

Not exactly sure.
Wow. Nothing like a little casual off-season reading.

Good that we have a new commish now. He will be all over this. And help us do the right thing. Hopefully.
Unfortunately we are stuck with Mr head up his butt for another month.

LA LA Land

Such a ridiculous take. As if anyone cares about college sports in these cities.

Living in LA and Chicago I will backup that nobody cares. For every 50 sports fans in Chicago there is 1 in LA.

However, at least USC and UCLA are national brands. Rutgers is nothing.

ACC source suggesting that a raid of the Big 12 might be in line for that conference. Curious what it would look like.

I can't even fathom. Do the ACC + Pac leftovers + new Big 12 essentially just form a second tier of CFB under the super leagues? Maybe true conference affiliations aren't even necessary in that scenario.

But when we talk about adding value, we're generally talking about the average. Using round numbers for convenience, if a conference is bringing in 100 million and has 10 teams with equal revenue sharing, a team needs to raise the shared value by at least another 10 million to keep everyone making the same or more.

However, if that 10 team conference loses 2 teams that were worth ~40 million of that 100 million, the new average for the remaining 8 that a new team needs to clear is only ~7 million. Suddenly a team that didn't clear the bar before might under the new structure. Additionally, adding those teams may be seen as a stabilizing move to keep others from being picked off.
