I see all this stuff talking about how the Big10 now has schools in the 5 biggest media markets, but that feels like old media talking and not the new media/streaming.

How does having Rutgers in New York really help the Big10 with AppleTV if no one in New York cares? Or Northwestern in Chicago?
The Big Ten doesn't need streaming. They're going to have linear TV, most likely on 3 major broadcast networks. (FOX, NBC, CBS)

Man, if only this happened months ago and the Big 8 just joined with the Pac 10.

The big 12 should go after FSU, Miami, Clemson and maybe NC, Duke and grab Oregon and washington and maybe a couple others m Screw the idea of having only 2 super conferences.

Yeah I guess my comment is more how sustainable/how much money is really left in linear TV comparatively to streaming?

Many of them may have been working this story but didn't have enough to feel comfortable going to print with it yet. But as soon as one reporter rolls with it, they may feel more comfortable sharing what they've heard as well, since it won't be just them out on the limb

I mean, everyone knows realignment is coming, so they're all working that angle at all times. But as far as being nervous about breaking this story, I find it unlikely they were scared to go first, given the attention you draw for being first to a story and the relative lack of consequences for being wrong.

Not to mention the probability of being right - none of these schools or conferences are going to let it get to the point where a reporter even gets a sniff of it if there's any chance of it falling through.

Not gonna happen. I’m guessing USC and UCLA aren’t the only ones having discussions.

I mean…the world found out about USC/UCLA a little over an hour ago, and it’s being reported now that it might be a done deal yet this evening. **** doesn’t just happen that fast.

More for right now until we see one of the streamers cut a massive check. Most people who stream still have somehting like youtubetv, hulutv, or fubo that is essetnially digital lineral tv or as someone pointed out a hybrid.

Big ten has also been in talks with amazon so might see some games their but certainly not many.

You know what really ******* irritates me? We are going to get screwed. And schools like inidiana and Purdue and Mississippi state are going to be fine just because of where they started.

Imagine the equipment truck drivers going from Piscataway to Los Angeles lol
With how much money each school is making they could all just keep a second set in California for when the visit next.

Think its moving so fast because of the media rights deal actively being negotiated by the big ten. Hadn't even heard a rumor from anyone that these two specific schools were in serious talks.

For now. Never doubt the ability of people chasing a dollar. Maybe in a decade, maybe two, when the B1G and SEC are 24 schools apiece, the 32 or so most valuable will leave and merge together and leave those schools you mentioned behind.

B1G takes Oregon, Washington, Cal, Stanford, Notre Dame and Kansas

SEC takes Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia, Duke and Miami

There's 2 22-team leagues with Georgia Tech, NC State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and West Virginia on the waiting list if they want to go 24.

Big 10 desperately covets Virginia and UNC. Add in Georgia Tech.

Amazon would be the perfect place to dump non-conference basketball and Olympic sports simply because Amazon will overpay for them to get their foot in the door if you throw in a football game or two.

Then what is stopping Oregon and Stanford from entering the chat and being done with a snap of the finger?
