Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Rutgers, Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Missouri all get left out.
Indiana, as in the massive state school that just won the natty is getting left out… well that’s a hot take.

Indiana is a huge reason why a small super league isn’t happening anytime soon

We'll see. I think changing the mindset of college football fans who are used to their team going undefeated or maybe losing 1 game every year to one where they finish barely over .500 is much easier said than done
I get what you’re saying but most decisions are being made with money in mind not fans.

While I agree with you, but they will need to show they can maintain success. Also, the elites can’t be happy with UI winning the title last season.
Yeah agreed, but also that’s a massive ratings bump and is good for the conference. People have to pick their talking point, it can’t be “blue bloods are mad they are subsidizing lower tier schools in media dollars” while also being “lower tier school leads the conference in media ratings and wins a natty and the blue bloods are pissed”

Most don’t care and are pretty happy for Indiana across the board. You want the conference to be as deep as possible as it makes for more marquee games, better recurring and bigger checks.

Would you say Clemson's brand power is the same today as it was between 2015-2020?
I believe that Clemson is in the top 25 in the AD revenue rankings, and they are doing that in the ACC, which isn't the Big Ten or SEC as far as TV revenue goes. As such, they have strong non-TV revenue, which would suggest to me that the Clemson brand is doing just fine.

Based on your previous comments, Clemson would be a wonderful fit in the superconference. In football, they are kind of mediocre now, so they would be readily beatable by the top teams, and they are doing fine financially despite a number of mediocre years, so they won't be a financial drain on the superconference. Win-Win pick for the superconference. The Clemson brand isn't going anywhere.

This. Not sure why you guys just think the blue bloods are the only ones bringing value and money.

Because of ratings. A more apt question is why one would think otherwise.

The Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers could all point to a similar graph in their respective sports. Those teams only have value if they have someone to play. There is more than money that binds these conferences. It's not ADs that are going to be making these big decisions. It's University Presidents, who generally are more likely to lean towards conference harmony.

More that you are not informed on realignment and the business of college athletics
Yes you proved me wrong by posting a three year old graph that showed blue bloods with primetime time slots make up 50% of viewership ratings. No ****.
