If they don't have a deal by week 1, pretty good chance the Big12 has more than 12 teams in 2024.

If the Pac stays in place with zero defectors I wouldn’t be shocked if you still added a team or two. I don’t personally think it’s the right call but expansion keeps being talked about by the commish

Yeah I'd be shocked if that happened. I don't think we're going to take anyone just to continue expanding. Gonzaga and UCONN aren't going anywhere at the moment, so there's no reason to extend an offer too early.
I would think UConn is a numbers play if only 1 or 3 schools leave Pac12.
UCONN is only an option if ESPN/FOX want them to be.
I’m 50-50 on if Colorado leaves that automatically triggers Arizona. Kinda think it does.
the short list of targets would be UCONN and one of Memphis, Tulane, UNLV, SDST, Boise St, and maybe Air Force? ya, thats not going to happen.
And neither one is additive, contractually or otherwise. And I’m sure as hell not adding basketball schools before I know exactly how the splitting off sports in the next media deal is going to work out.
I wonder if it some point CU or Arizona just cut bait and run or give a ultimatum/deadline for the media deal. The constant "oh we've almost reached a deal & it's great but you can't see it just trust us" shows the lack of leadership in the Pac12. And even if the numbers come back good, you have to wonder if Kliavkoff did any thing or if a blind squirrel just happened on a nut.

I disagree on Gonzaga. If you can get them at 1/8 share (~$4M) per year, they are instantly additive in NCAA units alone and that's before we talk about opening up a late night window for the TV partners to be able to slot in some marquee games.
UConn is a totally different calculation that you could talk me into either way. Do NYC and basketball balance out their football problem? Does ESPN want their basketball product that they don't currently have access to? Does a real league and stability give that football program the ability to grow?
IMO that's too many what ifs..
I'm in for UCONN and Colorado. I know they both suck at football, but this has never really been about on-field performance anyway.

But they aren't "ifs" for Yormark.
He knows those answers and understands that any additional realignment can't be dilutive to the existing 12 schools.
In fact, I bet the number crunchers would add UConn with the idea that it's accretive to existing members. By 2026 the CFP will pay each P5 school $20M+. Give UConn $10M annually for a few years and give current Big12 schools each around $1M annually.
Meanwhile a similar thread on the Cal Forum site has 746 posts. You would think they would care more as their school is both at risk and cited as a potential Big 10 option to appease California law makers or academic snobs.

It is not necessarily good that we are THAT active about another conference, but it does show the difference in engagement between fan bases. I did not do that much research on other forums, but my guess is other PAC schools are similar.
