Just keep in mind, we had to go slumming with Houston and UCF to get back to 12. The very best expansion option for the Pac is going to be worse than that. They need to add 2. They were a weaker conference than us before this started.

We do not need to steal away an expansion candidate to finish off the Pac. The Pac is likely already finished. A current member is likely going to leave for the B1G or B12 to seal the deal. But even if they don't, a world where the Pac remains a P5 would mean our new B12 is alive and stable and that is fine for us.

We should never, ever consider adding SDSU. If some of you really want to go to San Diego so bad, take a vacation. You don't need to see a football game in a half empty stadium to visit there. Plenty of better things to do while you are there.

The two big draws in the big ten are Michigan and OSU. Teams that play them get a bump. Did the two west teams play them? Penn state is the other ratings drawer.
Not really true. Ohio State is off the charts. Michigan is crazy high. PSU and Wisconsin are right there and draw about like a blue blood. MSU gets really good ratings. They have been a bit erratic in ratings, but they had been pretty erratic on the field too so they are probably the toughest to judge. But I would slot them right after PSU and Wisconsin, ahead of Neb. Now, if Neb had a decent season those big eaters would go apeshit.
I’d put Wisconsin ahead of MSU because they have been more consistent at getting great viewership.

My dream scenario is the B12 partners with CBS/NBC and they give us enough money to entice OR, WA. AZ and CO to come from the P12 and to entice Mizzou, AR. KY and TN to leave the SEC. I know that sounds crazy, but I think Mizzou would do it if they could get $70 million or so. They aren't thrilled with the SEC and would love to get away from OU and Texas. If Mizzou leaves, we could get some others to follow.

^^This. It’s perplexing to me why some people seem to think they’re only allowed to travel to cities where Iowa State is playing a game. It’s very strange.

The Big XII has all the time in the world right now. If some PAC schools want to join up, great. If not, the Big XII will still be behind only the SEC and Big 10. The only ones the PAC schools hurt by staying put is themselves.

The PAC schools know the Big XII is probably going to be their best long-term bet if they have an invite. But before they make that call, they have to explore all the options they can. They’re on the clock, but they have some time before they have to make any decisions. If they really want to push things, the Big XII might be wrapping up a renewal of their media deal in 12 months. Maybe a few on-the-fence PAC schools want to wait until things can be formalized more than just a projection and a promise.

That is an extremely fair breakdown

That part of our fanbase drives me crazy. Let’s add Rice, SDSU and CSU so I can go to ISU games in cool places.

Basically people want to destroy our AD so they can have a more efficient travel itinerary.

This crowd is #2 on my most annoying segment of ISU fan behind the people that are late getting into the game because they want to drink one more Busch Light on a slab of asphalt.

MSU gets to play the 3 biggest draws (which usually have the best time slots also) every year. The way the big ten is set, one division way stronger than the other, really helps the other teams in that division get better draws. Wisconsin is also usually the west rep in the CCG so that helps them.

By that logic Maryland, Rutgers and Indiana should also be top ten teams in ratings.

We got over 4 mil playing Purdue and over 2 mil playing northwestern which this board constantly mentions as teams that shouldn’t be in the big ten. I’m not saying we’re on OSU or Michigan’s level becuase no teams are, even bama had a game barely over 100k and Georgia had two of those games but when we are good we draw very well.

I can’t decide which one of those teams is most implausible to leave the SEC (of course none of them are leaving) but I feel like it has to be Tennessee

I think there is an existential risk to the Big 12 until the ACC & Pac-12 are non-competitive revenue/payout-wise.

Otherwise we could be at risk during the next realignment phase probably a decade out.

Think right now we have a great opportunity to set ourselves up for the next phase of realignment that's mutually beneficial for most of the parties involved, so think it would be a good idea to get that done and not sit on our hands.

I am all for realignment porn, but a hodgepodge conference from Seattle to Knoxville with no true breadwinners is a fetish I've not come across before.

I think the real kicker is thinking Missouri is the key to getting others. I suppose they are the gateway to the west

Maryland and Indiana are basketball schools first, having very little success on the gridiron, Rutgers is Rutgers, they are only in the conference for the NY tv market.

No one is saying that MSU does not have a strong football history and fanbase, they do, but it helps a ton each year to be playing Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State, generally on one of the major networks and in primetime TV slots.
