‘People are saying’ = somebody wants to speak this into existence.
Yep. I'll help Texas Lite (Utah) pack.BY should have left them hanging out to dry.
Same guy that reported Porter Moser to DePaul...‘People are saying’ = somebody wants to speak this into existence.
Thats exactly what they tried to do with OuT - pay them more in the SEC and shunt the hateful 8 to the American for much less. Net net it was a savings. Unfortunately for ESPN the hateful 8 played their cards well, didnt **** their pants, and stayed together.
4 x 65 plus some peanuts is less than 14 x 30. (Or whatever the exact numbers are).
More importantly, the long term (medium term?) strategy is to considate the big brands so they can be easier split off to themselves. Having the top 20 brands in 2 conferences is easier to control than having them spread out.
On top of all that, the big brands FSU, Clemson want out of the ACC in the worst way. So they may take a partial SEC share for a while, reducing the pressure on a bigger SEC total price, and reducing the cost to ESPN. it may not be 4 x 65, it might be 4 x 40. Which isnt much different than status quo.
Also, who is going to bid them up for the ACC leftovers in a new contract? Fox? Maybe. But maybe not. If the good ACC teams go to the Big12, then youre paying roughly the same, or maybe less (like the M4 when they joined).
As long as they think the money is break even-ish (and based on my thoughts above, i think it is) they strongly prefer the ACC to breakup.
And ALL this isnt to say its a sure thing, but just dont kid yourself about "paying more" making it impossible.
Lol!
He's just really old and has gotten to the point where he believes everything he hears. Is **** Weiss the new John Canzano?
I like it. Take their money and in a few years when the ACC is failing, tell them the AAC would only require them to change one letter on their field. This would only be a move to make and turn around to BYU and say FU.
Their travel costs would likely quadruple.
Agree. He's just really old and has gotten to the point where he believes everything he hears.
Used to be a fantastic college basketball writer 20 years ago.
Game is being played in the Pacific time zone at 8pm. Saying it is one hour from being played on a Saturday is factually false. If you use that argument, a person watching in London could already state that it is being played on Saturday. Just because Rutgers is in it doesn’t change the fact that the game is being played at 8pm local time.Yeah, and it would be midnight on the east coast…….
Weiss likely got his "info" from this Georgia Tech guy who doesn't realize UU has significant exit fees and a GOR buyout unlike the other 3 schools mentioned:Is **** Weiss the new John Canzano?
Outside Administrations see the big 12 as the special needs group of academics (I don’t believe it but it is what the anal academics think) so they believe the ACC has taken the place of the PAC as the coastal snobs. Utah is the man/woman who is a 6.5-7.0 who believes they are a 9.5.The funny thing is if Clemson or Florida State leave, why would Utah want to step into that tire fire just to play Cal and Stanford again and make less money?
