I would find this CBS report more interesting if it was not Dodd, guy is wrong a lot. Does a lot of clickbait stuff too.

Kicking someone out seems like a lot of trouble to go to when the Big 10 and SEC don't have GORs. Much easier for the top teams to bold and create their own playoff structure from a blank slate.
I'm not seeing them kicking out current conference members, because the big dogs know that someone has to take the L and don't mind paying some of these lower tier schools to be the ones to take a lot of Ls.

I don't see it as "kicked out", but as the blue bloods moving their FB teams out of the conference into a newly formed ESPN SuperLeague.

B1G football continues, with Nebby, Iowa, NW, Rutgers etc. But Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St and maybe a couple others in a "Champions League" with Bama, LSU, Georgia et al.

I'll never understand how the "super league" grows viewers.

They're going to lose fans like me...and more than replace them by getting people in places like Alabama to watch MORE college football than they do now? Or they're going to get people in regions where people are born as NFL fans to suddenly prefer minor league NFL to actual NFL?

There might be a way for one media company to make slightly more money, but overall interest and total money is guaranteed to go down when you carve things up. In the long run if national interest goes down the whole thing could collapse.

Already this year there's no way i'm watching anything but ISU/Big 12 fb/bb, our bowl hopefully, and the NCAA basketball tournament. Absolutely no way I'm tuning into any B10/SEC games the rest of my life like I would have previous years if there was an intriguing game or upset in the works.

It is humorous to listen to AM 590 out of Omaha in the afternoons. Each year as we approach the start of football season the Nebraska commentators give their forecast of wins for the upcoming season....and they cannot help themselves and end up increasing the number to outdo each other. "Tom the off season weight program at N this summer has me thinking we will win at least nine games this year. Frank, I think if the defensive back we recruited from Vanderbilt is as good as advertised we could easily win 10, and maybe 11 if things go our way. Your both wrong. If our punters groin is fully healed we will be facing Ohio State in the big 10 championship this year".

Optimism springs anew in Lincoln each August...only to be wilted by the second game in September.

The Huskers play in a weak P5 division, they have probably 2 games this year they maybe completely outmatched in.

That is why they are optimistic every year and then fail

That would be so damaging to many schools brands that they would never agree to do it. Some of those schools would become the new Rutgers of that league. Why would they jeopardize being on top when they are already in the top paying conferences?

I am going to keep my hopes in check until something is announced. The "tethered together" comment could end up being as desperate as the 3-conference alliance's statement turned out to be. I don't see Oregon signing onto a new GOR with the PAC (or the B12) as they will eventually end up in the B10. USC and UCLA need more than just each other on the West Coast.

If ND says no to B1G, it's very possible they might add Stanford and UW rather than UO and UW.

Big12 could take Oregon and Oregon St in that scenario (along with the Mountain 4). Sorry Cal & Wazzu.

More than any other member of the P12 Utah has linked its identify with the P12. There are P12 logos all over their campus.

They joined the conference 11 years ago. I'm sure they have a lot of swag but you can't tell me they are emotionally tied to the Pac 12 in that much time.

I'll never understand how the "super league" grows viewers.

It doesn't grow viewers -- but it concentrates them.

It allows the braodcasters to lock up the biggest brands and ensure ALL marquee matchups every week. Imagine if all 10 games they broadcast weekly had 6 million viewers, the ad revenue per game is fantastic.

That's what Fox & ESPN think will happen, so that's why they are pushing it that way. Reasonable minds may disagree, but I think that is what they think, and what they are trying to do.

I would not say Dodd is reporting the Big 12s side, The dude has some serious angst for the Big 12. He would love nothing more than the Big 12 to fold.

He twists everything to make the Big 12 look worse. Similar to How Mandel, overvalues the PAC.

Weird reply here. Are you actually reading what he wrote?

Yes, he is reporting the Big 12's side, at least as his sources are telling him. Doesn't mean he'll be right, doesn't mean anyone has to like or it agree, but that's what he's doing.

And I'm no fan of Dodd's either, but this report painted the Big 12 pretty favorably.

Because everyone loved it in the Big 12? You didnt notice we no longer have Mizzou, Nebby, Colorado, or A&M in the Big 12?

You think teams like Iowa, Indiana, Miss st are going to like making Half as much or less than OSU or Alabama?

You think there is an infinite number of spots?

You think that when those lower teams are making equal or less than what a league outside that league, Say the Big 12, is making with equal sharing they wont want to leave for that equality?

I dont know if it will happen, but if it does, which I think is likely, it will be the demise of those conferences.
I think we’re saying the same thing but I’m not sure what exactly is going on here so good day to you.

It was/is nothing against you or what you said. Just my observation/feelings on Dodd.

I guess I don't read anything he says with any optimism. Kind of like the article that several of the PAC school fans are running with, that promoted a merger with the Big 12 and Pac, but left out ISU, KU and KSU. He is a Mizzou troll.

I rank him up there with Finebaum, and Mandel is not far behind. I don't regard much of anything they report as truth, they all show way too much bias in everything they write/say.

Of course it plays a role but it also only plays a role if the team is ranked. For example texas only had one game last year break the 4 mil mark and it was against OU. They are still a good draw but will draw significantly less when they aren’t ranked. Nebraska played a stupid hard schedule last year against 5 ranked teams (plus Wisconsin) but that is what happens sometimes. They have still been in the top 15 of ratings going back close to a decade
Nebraska is in iowa states conference and has a top 4 brand for 35 years. Then they join Iowas conference and quickly is relegated to a No. 15 brand. Smart move.

Lot of things changed to allow for Nebraska’s fall. Just becuase a school is in a top position doesn’t mean they will stay there. Tenn football, Georgetown/Indiana basketball, etc. There is no rule that OSU and Bama have to remain dominant and NIL is already shifting things. Not that long ago Bama was like Nebraska is now, a shadow of former greatness.

I hope Big 10 takes Oregon as I see Pac-12 doing all they can to stay together.

Heh, covet the ACC alliance which is about $5M per team ($35M) vs the new, $30M per team in the PAC 10...dropping the value of the ACC-PAC to approximately $32.5M per team. Sure, Clemson, FSU, Miami, NC, etc. will be all in on actually getting less through 2036...nope, wishful thinking there.

Not talking about performance, but a brand. Nebraska fall in its brand is a huge Big 10 failure and is not due mainly to its performance. The big 10 basically hid one of their marquee programs for 12 years in a division that is awful.
