The Big 12 is working to get the Arizona schools right now. Next would be Utah. I feel well sourced on that. I've heard we are slow playing CU as Washington is on the table.

Some like CU while others feel they shouldn't be allowed back in. Hearing little to no interest on either end from Cal and Stanford to the Big 12. They look down on the leagues academia and fox doesn't view them as good for TV versus others.

This person seemed rather confident and has been right more than wrong since we met.

I've heard that, but let's be real, in the end, we'll take CU. The goal is for the Big 12 to have unquestionably no peers in the middle class so it is a P3 setup. Cal and Stanford are not needed, but I hope they go to the BIG. Let them bring down BIG per school pay, and no need to have them as mouths to feed on the non-P2 side.

Eliminating the Pac12, ACC, and pushing down MWC/AAC is more important than revenue or how many teams are in the conference imo.

I hope by Friday a lot of this is fleshed out.

After following this for 12+ years, the speed at which we could get down to a P3 setup is incredible.

The Pac 12 getting removed due to losing 6+ schools in a week would be very gratifying.

Hopefully quickly followed by ND leaving ACC and that conference vanishing just as quickly

What would we do if P2 was at 48 and Big 12 became 24 team third conference?

Talk about who gets pushed down/up in pay? Separation from ncaa?

Stanford could still squeeze into the big 10, Notre Dame could tip the scales for them. Cal will go indy or drop FB before joining the MWC. They think they're too good for big 12 academics, they aren't playing in a conference with Boise St.
Maybe I'm missing something. Why are so many bent on Stanford and ND being Siamese twins?

I can only assume it’s because of their rivalry. ND had a president, Father Malloy, who called Stanford an “aspirational peer.”

Hmmm. It appears there are several "aspirational peers" stranded out in the cold by the power move of the SEC and B1G. Will be interesting to see if this has enough weight over $$$ to keep those two together.

Delusion. Notre Dame will do what is best for Notre Dame. Stanford is not a consideration in their decision. Can Notre Dame remain Independent and have a path to the CFP? Big Ten may be done for now as they wait on a few ACC teams they eventually covet. Big 12 needs to solidify themselves with Utah and Arizona schools and Colorado. Weakens the PAC 12. Some great rivalry games which get eyeballs.

Do you have a link to that data? I was looking for this list a while back on something unrelated to realignment

The relationship between ND and Stanford, as well as USC, stems from the efforts primarily of Yost at Michigan to get midwestern teams to quit playing ND in an effort to destroy them. It is a notorious story in ND lore that Mrs. Rockne told her husband it would be nice to visit California.

While ND has loyalty to those schools, it credits the Navy with keeping the university alive during WW II. They will do nothing to cut Navy from their schedule and will play that game as long as Navy wants to.

Dump football and go WCC.
Most of the WCC are religious schools, so I think the Big West - which is California Public School (UC and Cal State) Centric - would be a more likely landing spot if Cal and Stanford either went Independent in Football or dropped it altogether. Of course, they could also go the non-scholarship FCS route and join the PFL! I'd love to see either one play @ Drake. :)

100% agree with WSU. They are not that different than ISU fans. I lived in Seattle for 12 years. The UW-WSU rivalry is very much like the UI-ISU rivalry, except UW fans are a bit more like NU fans…”entitled” to success because they had some success in the early ‘90s. They also thumb their noses at WSU, not unlike UI fans try to do to us at times.

The Big difference between WSU fans and ISU fans is twice as many fans go to ISU football games and 4x as many fans go to basketball games.
