I think adding OrWa is smart by the B1G from a geography standpoint, especially for the sports that aren't football and basketball.

Yet somehow, Iowa will end up playing the BRUTAL schedule of Nebby, Minny, Rutgers, Indiana, Northwestern, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin and UCLA (UCLA since they will have to play one of the western teams).

I honestly think the biggest issue the legacy PAC schools like ASU and Utah have with the B12 is that the tables were turned just over a year ago. They are obviously stunned and in disbelief that their conference is dissolving and the Big 12 is instantly the #3. Lots of regret in their minds I'm sure.

This is likely hyperbole on my part, but where does Canzano's career go from here? Who will take him seriously as a journalist after he carried the Pac's water like this?

We should all be in awe of the prescience of Altimore.

I don't want to celebrate the demise of the Pac 12 because that could have easily been us 2 years ago. This realignment sucks (but it sure is nice to be on this side this time). But I DO want to celebrate with receipts how bad the Mandels, Wilners, Canzanos of the world are and who could not have been more wrong at every step of the way along this process.

These are not serious people and should never be positioned as a person of authority ever again.

I don't think there's enough left of the PAC to backfill with MWC/AAC schools. There aren't enough AAC schools with enough value, and the MWC's buyout is too high for 2024. Also, the PAC remainders have no buyout because they have no media deal.

The name's fate will be decided between Stanford, Cal, OSU and WSU. OSU and WSU are likely MWC bound, perhaps they'll take the name with them. Stanford wouldn't need the name if they go independent, and who knows what Cal's next move is.

On the plus side, grafting the name on the MWC is a sure way to finally get decent leadership for the "PAC." Everyone in the conference office will likely be gone or merged into the MWC.

I suspect the Pac and MWC will merge. Effectively it'd be the remaining Pac moving to the MWC, but they'd want to keep the Pac 12 name/history, so it'd be the MWC voting to dissolve and the Pac adding them all.

Isn't Cal/Stanford the biggest story now by several light years? Unless I'm missing something.

Washington/Oregon/USC/UCLA - Big Ten killed the Pac
Colorado/AZ - moved to Big 12
Utah and Arizona State - who gives a crap because they wanted to be in the MWC or with Cal/Stan anyway
Ore St/WSU - unfortunately they always had 100% chance of merging with MWC

What Cal and Stanford do is by far the biggest question mark. Utah and ASU don't really matter, they didn't want Big 12 anyway and Big 12 is looking solid at 14. It's like a wash if they stay in new MWC or join us.

IMO, now that the Pac is more or less dead, Arizona's value has dropped, since part of their value was to help kill the conference.

I still prefer Arizona to UConn, but the difference between the two seems pretty minor.
You get a decent brand, P5 football, plus a high-quality basketball program.

UConn gets you maybe one and a half of those. Maybe two, but not all three.

Plus, if they’ve applied and the B12 has agreed to take them, the point is moot.

Never forget the true genius in this whole thing: BY literally forced the Big 10’s hand and made them take ORWA now when they didn’t necessarily want to. And by doing so BEFORE addressing trams 15 and 16, he retains power over the situation. He honestly couldn’t have played this any better.
He's a maestro. And we're damn lucky to have him.

We should all be in awe of the prescience of Altimore.

What a joke he is. His better response should had been "Pac - Big 10 - ACC alliance. Remember that? Big 10 lied and attacked/poached the Pac. They need to be held accountable"

My narrative has changed. **** Arizona State. **** Utah. Let them die. Stick to 14.

I mean this sincerely since the big 10 plunged the knife in with Oregon and Washington we should try to get Stanford instead of ASU. God that would be delicious.

I don’t get the “feel sorry for WSU and OSU”. Work with two WSU grads and they cheered on everything that would make the PAC stronger over the years as “just business”. Those schools voted/approved to The Alliance without Big 12, Trying to poach the 4 TX/OK schools, grab Colorado and Utah, etc.

I don’t like any of this realignment stuff at all but I also don’t feel any empathy for teams that actively tried to kill off other conferences for 10 years.
